  5. Tropical Savanna • Hot temperatures and abundant rainfall. • Extended dry season • Grasslands such as the llanos

  6. Humid Subtropical • Short mild winters • Long, hot, humid summers • Pampas = short grasses

  7. Desert • Atacama Desert (Chile) – Created by the rainshadow effect of the Andes Mountains. • No rainfall has ever been recorded in some places.

  8. Steppe • Hot summers, cool winters, light rainfall. • Grassy or lightly forested.
