  1. James L. Emmer July 12, 2009 Current trends in knowledge management

  2. This trend discusses how knowledge management has transcended business concepts into the international arena as companies expand Consideration of other cultures, it’s citizens and communities as to how it impacts the establishment of knowledge management processes for a business (Creech, 2005) Convergence

  3. This trend in Knowledge Management depicts how storage of knowledge has moved from traditional methods of process storage into effective knowledge based information systems allowing effective communication about organizational processes, methods, models, and other forms of information that benefit employees in a company (Creech, 2005) Transition from storage to retrieval

  4. This trend in Knowledge Management depicts how the availability of knowledge is obtained through legal methods. Sharing knowledge that is not confidential to any specific aspect of a business is allowed to be shared with the rest of the world. This trend has assisted many smaller businesses to establish successful processes pertinent to their success (Brian Donnellan, 2005) Open source / open content

  5. This trend in Knowledge Management depicts how establishment of processes utilize effective and scientific management practices to research projects specific to implementing an effective knowledge based program Methods and practices are documented and analyzed in an effective research based approach to provide valuable data about success or failure of the program (Nick Salafsky, 2009) Adaptive management

  6. This trend in Knowledge Management depicts how organizations are more effective when they govern rather than manage resources for knowledge sharing. The processes are established through guidelines and business direction but continue to grow and be run by the organizations employees as it matures (Creech, 2005) Governance proves lower turnover rates, labor productivity, lower costs and improved customer satisfaction (Ibis Associates , 2009) Adoption of different modalities
