  1. What Is The Best Jet Engine?

  2. The Early Pioneers Frank Whittle was the first to register a patent for the turbojet engine in 1930. Hans Von Ohain was granted a patent for his turbojet in 1936. However, Hans Von Ohain was the first to fly in 1939 with the Heinkel He-178.Frank Whittles jet, the Gloster E.28/39 first flew in 1941.

  3. What Are The Different Types Of Jet Engines?

  4. The Different Types Of Jet Engine Are: • Gas Turbine • Turbojet • Ramjet • Turbofan • Turboprop • Propfan • Turboshaft • Scramjet • Pulsejet • Rocket • Turborocket

  5. Propulsive Performance Of Different Jet Engines

  6. Propulsive Efficiency At 100mph: Turbo Prop:40% High By Pass Turbojet:30% Low By Pass Turbojet:30% Pure Turojet:15% At 400mph: Turbo Prop:80% High By Pass Turbojet:70% Low By Pass Turbojet:65% Pure Turojet:45% Pure Turbojets have much higher efficiency at high speeds, about 1000mph and above. Turboprops are very effective at lower speeds, under 400mph. Vertical/Short take-off and landing engines (VSTOL) such as the Rolls Royce Pegasus, can be used to take off from very short distance runways, or even just strait up!
