  1. Exposition Narrator: It’s not uncommon for a kid to dream of a life in the spotlight. It’s not uncommon for a kid to dream of breaking records. What is uncommon, is finding a kid with the determination to reach those dreams…Meet Miguel. Protagonist = Miguel Antagonist = will arrive during rising action POV = 3rd person omniscient

  2. Exposition Narrator: …and as he grew into a basketball sensation, he finally grabbed a hold of those dreams… Sportscenter sportscasters: And now our top story…NBA commissioner David Stern will, in fact allow the young Miguel Carlo-who has been lighting up high school gymnasiums for the last 4 years-make the jump to the NBA. Carlooh my this is going to stir up controversy.

  3. Rising Action David Stern: Congrats kid. You earned it. Live up to it. Miguel: Thank you sir. I won’t let you down. This is what I live for. Narrator: His life was perfect.

  4. Rising Action Narrator: After signing his contract, he bought a new car and ate at fine restaurants. He was living the dream…until the morning of his 1st NBA game.

  5. Voice:…There’s nothing else we can do. Narrator: …he was left paralyzed. And the accident took more than his legs. Miguel found himself struggling to look ahead. He considered himself a victim, worthless. Slowly, he sank into a depression losing touch with loved ones. Family members became concerned.

  6. Climax Narrator: Miguel’s brother Don steps in and takes him to Spirit Park, where his love for the game really began. Don: Today you get your life together. These kids need a coach. You’re gonna act like a grown man and do the job. I told them you would. Miguel: I can’t. I’m no inspiration to them. Don: You can be. The scene between Miguel and his brother is intense. Miguel, at first, resents Don for bringing him back here; but Don can no longer watch his brother waste his life and love for the game. Miguel watches for a bit. After the kids recognize him, they surround him sharing with him how excited they are that he is their new coach. He cannot say no.

Miguel: Nothing can stop you kid. You can do anything you want if you want it badly enough! The same goes for all of you. If we want to win, we can. You just have to want it bad enough!
