Certification – The definition Indiana Minority Supplier Development council Certification is a detailed process that qualifies a business of being at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by a U.S. citizen and meet the criteria based on the specific certifying entity. Companies seeking certification must be for-profit businesses.

Purpose of certification Indiana Minority Supplier Development council Minority Business Enterprise is interested in doing business with corporate America Provides assurance that the businesses targeted by corporate America’s supplier diversity efforts are the ones reaping the benefits of such Programs Identifies “fronts” attempting to mask as bona fide minority-owned businesses

  9. Who qualifies for certification? Indiana minority supplier development council • The IMSDC is governed by the NMSDC. Qualifications for certification include: • Certification based on 25 percent ethnicity in one of the following categories: • African American • Asian Indian • Asian Pacific • Hispanic/Latino • Native American • 51 percent ownership and control of a company by a minority • U.S. citizenship

Recommendations to applicants Indiana minority supplier development council • Ask questions for clarity, before starting the application process; • Read the entire application to know the documentation required; • Follow the instructions and submit the application in the checklist order; • Do not leave blank spaces on the application. If something does not apply, indicate “N/A”; • Submit application well in advance of the “need by” deadline; • Be patient, this is process; • Submit additional requested information by the deadline; • Keep a copy for your records.
