More than 3 Million People displaced. • Fastest movement of people in such massive numbers since the • Rwandan genocide of 1994. • Thousands of new IDPs were arriving every hour (85,000 per day). • Hundreds of spontaneous settlements in schools, colleges, • stadiums and parks. • Most came empty handed and in urgent need of food & medical • care. • 70,000 pregnant women who urgently needed medical assistance. • Vast majority of the IDPs living outside camps • Experiencing soaring summer temps. and facing a scarcity of water. • Most of them lost their homes and possessions • Most of the schools were destroyed. We are a group of volunteer professionals • working in different organizations. •  Most of have worked as relief volunteers earlier • during the 2005 Kashmir Earthquake • Started collecting funds from our • families/friends/colleagues. •  The idea was to buy items and distribute them • ourselves to those who have not been helped • yet by the Govt. or any NGO. Used old contact in the region, local volunteer social workers, assessed the situation, checked for requirements. • Used our contacts owning mills to procure foodstuff at subsidized rate • Frequent meetings among our team for planning. • Handled all aspects of the operation: fund raising>procurement> logistics>warehousing>local logistics for distribution>liaison with locals> surveys for identifying deserving cases>distribution. Round-3+ fund will be used for Rehabilitation Efforts in Swat • Currently we are surveying the area for feasibility of projects • We are in contact with friends in GE Healthcare US and Google • US to guide us in securing funds for engineering proposals • related to rehab. • Areas for Rehab: • Water Purification/Sanitation • Education: School, Skill Training School • Healthcare: Clinic, Maternity Care • Rebuilding: Reconstruction of house, shops etc. • Orphanage Current Activity and Future Plans
