  1. By John Davila Non-renewable resources

  2. Black gold (crude oil) Black gold is used for almost everything we do but without it being changed it is almost completely useless. It is changed by adding heat which changes some of the elements inside of it so we can use it for things like gasoline and asphalt.

  3. How does oil affect the earth Crude oil affects the earth when it gets dumped into the sea when it is being brought in by a super tanker and the tanker gets damaged.(oil spills) It also affects the atmosphere when it is burned by cars as gasoline.

  4. Affect on organisms When there are oil spills, it is very hard to remove the oil so when it spreads it can kill thousands of water organisms like fish, seals, dolphins, and many others.

  5. Coal (how we use it) Coal is used by train engines to keep them moving. Coal is used for almost half of the country's electricity generated by plants. 94% is used to generate electricity the other 6% is used by steel industries

  6. Effect of coal on earth When power plants burn coal to generate electricity the smoke is very harmful because it causes pollution, so coal has a pretty big effect on earth. As do other sources of energy.

  7. Conversion to energy To convert coal to energy we burn it at power plants. When we burn the coal it creates steam which we use to turn giant turbines that create electricity. The good thing about coal is that it is long burning so it actually lasts awhile. The bad thing about it is that it also creates a lot of pollution.

  8. How we can create less pollution When we use coal as an energy it doesn’t help the environment all that much so we have emissions controls that we have on companies and cars that create pollution.
