Student Expectations • Classroom Expectations • Students must bring appropriate materials to class take an active role in their learning • Students may not sleep or lay their heads down in class • Organizing for learning is encouraged through the use of three ring binders, assignment books, and grade sheets • Students may not disrupt teaching and learning

Student Expectations • Class Attendance Expectations • Students are required and expected to report to class on time and stay for the full assigned time • Students must report directly to class and may not “drop in” other areas such as the office, clinic, library, or guidance • Students must use their assignment books for travel during class sessions

  4. Student Expectations • Class Attendance Expectations during SOL testing: • Students are expected to attend each and every class during the SOL testing window. • In non-testing classes, students will be engaged with regular classroom instruction, including graded assignments

  5. Student Expectations • Study Block Expectations: • Students may not leave study block without permission from their classroom teacher. Prior permission must be obtained from the destination teacher • Study block is for instructional purposes • No sleeping or heads down, disruption during study block

Students Expectations • Detention: • Detention is used as a minor disciplinary consequence. • Assigned Detention is held at these times: • Morning – 7:30-8:20 • Afternoon -3:35 – 4:25 • Saturday – 8:00 – 8:50 • Skipping detention results in an assignment of Saturday school or suspension • Students who have an excused absence on the day of assigned detention should serve on the day of return or see appropriate assistant principal to reschedule

  7. Student Expectations • Participant’s Pledge • Students involved in extracurricular activities must sign a pledge to represent the school as a good citizen • Students must remain free of alcohol and illegal drugs • Students MUST attend all classes on the day of the activity

  8. Fighting • Fighting at Lee-Davis High School will result in a ten-day suspension from school • Students who fight may also be charged with assault or disorderly conduct

  9. Attendance Procedures • Within two days of return to school, students must give the office an absence excuse note signed by the parent/guardian • The main office will issue excuse notes • Students may not miss more than: • 10 days in a year-long block class • 20 days in a daily class • 5 days in a semester class and receive credit

  10. Late Arrivals/Tardiness • Students must be in class at 8:30am • Students arriving after 8:40am (or 7:40am for early morning class) must sign in through the office and turn in an excuse note before going to class • All excuse notes will be verified • Students who are more than 10 minutes late to school or class may be suspended for skipping

  11. Unexcused Tardiness • Oversleeping • Missing the bus • Car trouble • Other transportation problems • Hanging with friends Consequences will be assigned for unexcused tardiness to class. The third unexcused tardy will result in detention. The sixth unexcused tardy will result in an office referral

Early Dismissals • Early dismissal requests must be turned in to the office before school • Students must sign out through the main office • Students with early dismissals must leave campus promptly • Students with early dismissals may not ride the bus home unless they have signed back in through the main office • Parents are encouraged to schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible so students do not miss instruction

Authorized Areas • Once students exit the school bus, they must come inside and remain in the designated areas • Parking lots, outside areas, and vehicles are off limits during the school day • At lunch students must be in the cafeteria, patio (11th and 12th graders only), school, store, or science restrooms • Once on school grounds, always on school grounds

  14. Loitering • Students may not loiter on school grounds after school hours • All students must be under direct supervision of a sponsor, coach, or staff member while on campus

  15. Report Cards • Must be signed by the parent/guardian and returned within two days

  16. Tobacco, Drugs, and Alcohol • Possession or use of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol on campus is prohibited by law • Any student who brings a controlled substance, imitation controlled substance, or marijuana onto school property or to a school sponsored activity shall be recommended for expulsion in accordance with state law and school board regulations

Proper Attire • Students are required to report to school in proper attire • Hats, Bandanas, and head scarves may not be worn in school • Chains, tank tops, low cut tops, form fitting clothing, bare midriffs, and flip flops are not permitted • Tank tops include sleeveless shirts with thin or wide straps • Shorts are permitted, but must exceed the length of the “finger tips”. T-shirts with inappropriate messages, language or advertisements are not permitted. Parents may be contacted if a student’s dress is inappropriate

  19. School Logo • The school logo are official trademarks that may be used without the written consent of the principal. Use of the name or logo without permission is a violation of school policy and the law. Violators will be prosecuted

  20. Food and Drink • Food and drink should be consumed in the cafeteria • Students who are late to class because they are securing food may be assigned detention

  21. Emergency Evacuations • During emergency evacuations students must report to and remain with their teacher. Evacuation routes and instructions are posted • All procedures for intruder drills will be reviewed and practiced

  22. Cheating • Cheating is defined as copying another student’s work, allowing another student to copy work, communicating about a test during test administration, or plagiarizing. This includes plagiarizing sources from the Internet. • Students caught cheating receive a zero on the assignment and a detention

  23. Skateboards and Rollerblades • Skateboards and Rollerblades are not permitted on school grounds at any time! • If you bring one to school, it should be locked in your locker

  24. Lee-Davis is a special place and in order for ALL students to be successful, these rules must be followed!
