WHO? This YouTube sensation is The Yogscast! Or is it? If you were paying attention, you would know by now. The Yogscast are a group of 15 or so dedicated gamers who actually started out as a WoW guild and grew as they became more serious. The Yogscast are divided into multiple channels, however they almost always play games together. The main members of the Yogscast include, Lewis, Simon, Hannah, Sips, Sjin, Duncan, Nilesy, Rythian, Zoey, and Martyn. Many people in the Yogscast are technicians, managers, designers, but almost all produce independent content for their own channel.
WHat? The Yogscast are mainly a gaming channel and Lewis and Simon’s channel alone has over 5 000 000 subscribers and almost 2 000 000 000 video views. I think that the reason they are so popular is because they’re hilarious. Noah, Parker, and Meghan can vouch for this. I think I’ve already proved that they are a YouTube sensation, wouldn’t you say?
WHen? I have no idea when The Yogscast made it big. I think they made it big when people discovered them, around their 50th video and started watching them. Then, they told their friends and their friends started watching them, etc. They went from two people to a massive collaboration that even has its own office building, aptly named YogTowers. I discovered The Yogscast when my friend Henry told me about it. I started watching for real when my brother was trying in vain to install a Minecraft mod. I searched the mod on YouTube and The Yogscast came up! (Good old Henry, where would I be without him?)
WHere? The Yogscast originate from Bristol UK (interesting fact time! The Yogscast are currently the biggest channel in the entire UK) and are obviously on YouTube. The Yogscast are all over the web with their popular podcast, the YogPod and also have their own website at http://www.yogscast.com/. YogTowers is also located in Bristol.
WHy? I think The Yogscast are a YouTube sensation because they are HILARIOUS. Anybody who recognizes “/give honeydew 46 64” will know that The Yogscast are always good for a chuckle when you’re feeling down. Whether you want some quiet gaming time (go to Sjin’s channel) or some frantic insane hilarity (go to Lewis and Simon’s channel) there’s something there for everybody.
hOW? How do other sensations on YouTube get started? If you have a lot of followers and are committed to throwing out content at maximum speed, you can get a start on YouTube! You just need to take time, as good things come to people who wait. Thanks for watching my C.E!
How did they get their name? Good question! The WoW guild they were in was called Ye Old Goone Squad, or YOGS. Videos under the guild name were called YOGScasts at the time. Eventually, a channel was made called The Yogscast and, well, you can guess what happened next. Need proof? Lewis and Simon’s channel are #18 in subscribers, #17 in video views, and #3 in channel views. Duncan, Sjin, and Sips are hovering lower than that, but they’re way up there. Bam!
