  1. The Blues In the blues music there is much blending or slurring of the blues notes which produces jarring sound. Singing consists of high pitched wailing charged with emotion Blues is the name given to both a musical form and a music genre.

Slaves: • The slaves were taken into America or force because they had to work on the fields or farms and to be sold at the auctions • What made the slavery horrible was they would be separated from their families and wives and husbands and have very dirty cruel jobs to do. • The slaves were set free in 1865 but it really hard for them have a space to live around that time

  3. 12 bar blues: • The twelve bar blues is a length of music, is twelve bars and also fits with the typical Blues lyrics • Blues is the name given to both a musical form and a music genre.

  4. Instruments: • The most popular instrument in time was a drum they would use it by using their palm or their fingertips with or sticks • Other instruments were shakers, jingle, fiddle and tambourines

  5. Jazz musicians: • Robert Johnson from the Mississippi delta was a passionate singer and brilliant guitarist whose recordings has inspired many blues guitarist ever since. • Bessie Smith her vision of the St Louis Blues was delivered in a powerful and emotionally charged manner. • Muddy Waters achieved early success with a hit ‘I can be satisfied’. • John lee Hooker reached the charts with his hollering sound ‘Boom boom’. • Eric Clapton helped spread blues music by a mixture of traditional songs and his own pounding numbers such as ‘Layla’.
