Implementing Food Safety and Traceability System for SMEs in Thailand Background • Thailand is renowned for agricultural and food export. • There are approximately 9,000 food factories and 40,000 rice mills. • 85% of food factories in Thailand are small- scale operators. • They produce food for domestic consumption, export markets, and supply food ingredients, raw materials and packaging materials to the food chain.

Implementing Food Safety and Traceability System for SMEs in Thailand Background • Legislative /customer requirements with regard to • product safety. • The majority of the food processing plants, • which are small manufacturers, have not implemented • PRP,HACCP systems. • At present, they are alert to implement and acquire • certification of GMP/HACCP system. • Lack of knowledge for implementing Food safety • and Traceability system.
