Who Qualifies? • Six years of senior-level management at a chamber • Minimum of 175 points on the application • Had a major role in development of the supporting documents submitted with application • Can provide 3 most recent years’ financial statements for chamber • Annual audit for chambers $500,000+ • Conduct an annual review by a certified financial firm • Conduct an audit every other year • At least 1 audited set for chambers under $500,000 • Conduct an annual review by a certified financial firm • Conduct an audit every three years • Currently employed in the chamber profession

A CCE designation represents the highest achievement in the chamber management profession. • A mastery of the chamber profession Body of Knowledge • Commitment to the chamber profession • Dedication to managerial excellence • Leadership within the community and the chamber profession

Body of Knowledge ACCE and experienced chamber professionals developed the Body of Knowledge for the chamber profession. • Establishes benchmarks for the chamber profession and serves as the foundation for ACCE's educational programs. • Outlines general job competencies and is updated, as necessary, to reflect current chamber profession practices. • It is understood that chamber professionals need not have expertise or direct responsibility in all of these areas yet should have a comprehensive understanding of how each component impacts the chamber. • By reviewing the Body of Knowledge and working towards comprehending and implementing these practices, chamber professionals will be empowered with the essential skills necessary to be successful in the profession. Application: Supporting Documents • Financial statements for the most recent 3 years which include at least 1 year of audited statements • Annual budget – 2 most current years • Chamber Long Range Strategic Plan • Chamber Annual Business Plan or Program of Work • Chamber Annual Report • Chamber Staff Organization Chart • Personnel & Policy Manual • Position Description for your position • Resume for years in the chamber profession • 6 references – checked prior to interview process

CCE Certification Process The Five Steps Step 2 - The Essays Purpose: to evaluate the candidate’s written communication skills • Topic is from the chamber profession Body of Knowledge and approved by CCE Commission • The two-page essay is evaluated by Commission & communication specialist • Second 1-page essay outlining your financial procedures to protect the board’s fiduciary responsibilities

  30. CCE Certification Process The Five Steps Step 3 - The Oral Presentation Purpose: To evaluate the candidate’s oral presentation skills • 10 minute formal presentation to a panel of CCE commissioners • Presentation on primary essay topic • PowerPoint & handouts

CCE Certification Process The Five Steps Step 4 – Interview Purpose: To evaluate candidate’s mastery of career benchmarks identified in the chamber profession’s Body of Knowledge • Interview with CCE commissioners • Highlights your role as a leader in the chamber profession • Review of notebook materials (application/supporting documents) • Commitment to the chamber profession • Must pass to continue to the next step

CCE Application Process The Five Steps Step 5 – Exam Purpose: Written exam to evaluate candidate’s in-depth knowledge of chamber operations as highlighted in the chamber profession Body of Knowledge. • On the chamber profession Body of Knowledge • Recommended Reading List “MUST READ” • Multiple choice & short answer • Taken at a local CCE’s chamber • Given 4 hours to complete • Must pass to receive the designation
