2. Why Nature of Science? • A characteristic of Scientifically Literate Person, a person who can function in scientific and techno based society. • NOS = Ideas about Science; what science is, how it works , who do it. • People with acceptable views of NOS can distinguish science from non- science and Pseudoscience.

3. Non Science: Belief 23 กันยายน 2550 ได้มีชาวบ้านจากทั่วสารทิศในจ.ศรีสะเกษจำนวนมากนำดอกไม้ ธูปเทียนมากราบไหว้ลูกควายประหลาดมีรูปร่างหน้าตาเหมือนคน ถูกจัดวางให้อยู่ในสภาพนอนหงาย แขนขากางออกจากกันลักษณะเหมือนกับท่าทางคนนอนหลับ มีลักษณะประหลาดท่าทางเหมือนคนทุกอย่าง ตั้งแต่ศีรษะ ปาก จมูกหู รวมทั้งขาทั้ง 4 ข้าง (เหมือนคนทุกอย่าง???) แต่ไม่มีอวัยวะแสดงลักษณะของเพศผู้หรือเพศเมีย และลูกควายประหลาดได้เสียชีวิตทันทีตั้งแต่แรก

NON-Science: Fortune Teller, astrologer • ณัช แปลว่า ผู้ให้เกิดความรู้ ณัชชา แปลว่า เกิดเพื่อความรู้ ยังความรู้ให้เกิด ณัชพล แปลว่า มีพลังของนักรบ ณัฏฐ์ แปลว่า ผู้ตั้งอยู่ในความรู้ นักปราชญ์ ณัฏฐกฤต แปลว่า ผู้สร้างให้เป็นนักปราชญ์ ณัฏฐกิตติ์ แปลว่า เกียรติของนักปราชญ์ ณัฏฐชัย แปลว่า ชัยชนะของนักปราชญ์ ณัฏฐณิชา แปลว่า ฉลาดและบริสุทธิ์ ณัฏฐธิดา แปลว่า ธิดาของนักปราชญ์ ณัฏฐนรี แปลว่า นักปราชญ์หญิง ณัฏฐนิช แปลว่า ฉลาดและเป็นตัวของตัวเอง ณัฏฐพล แปลว่า พลังของนักปราชญ์ ณัฏฐา แปลว่า ฉลาด ณัฏฐากร แปลว่า บ่อเกิดแห่งนักปราชญ์ ณัฐ แปลว่า ผู้ตั้งอยู่ในความรู้ นักปราชญ์ ณัฐกมล แปลว่า นักปราชญ์ผู้บริสุทธิ์ดุจดอกบัว ณัฐกฤตา แปลว่า ผู้สร้างให้เป็นนักปราชญ์ ณัฐกิตติ์ แปลว่า ผู้รุ่งเรืองเพราะความรู้

NOS in Science Curriculum Framework • One of eight learning strands • Integrating strand Teach along all content strands from P1-S6 ….However, a great amount of studies indicated that science teachers have unacceptable views of NOS and as a result deliver such naïve views to students.. They might have not been trained on NOS or might have been ineffectively.

7. Blog as a way to enhance NOS views among science teachers • Part of the 21st century life • Can be so Educational and Entertaining at the same time • In align with Social Constructivism; Reflecting and Interacting with the more experienced can enhance their learning

8. Research Purpose • To examine the effect of “Scientist at Work” Science Blogs Activity on science teachers’ understanding of Nature of Science

9. Participants • M.Ed. Students in Science Education, Kasetsart University • All are in-service science teachers with min 2 of teaching experience • Took a NOS course with the author in 2011 academic year • Blog activity lasted for 6 weeks

10. Scientist at Work Blog • Science blog written by scientists, initiated and host by Nytimes. “This blog is the modern version of a field journal, a place for reports on the daily progress of scientific expeditions — adventures, misadventures, discoveries” NYtimes..

15. Instrument • View of Nature of Science (VNOS) Form C • Situational/open-ended questions • Developed by Norm Lederman in 2002 Measure NOS views on 6 Aspects • Distributed before and after the blog activity

17. Suggestions • The blog should not be too short so the teachers could take time to comprehend, familiarize, adjust and become a part of the culture. • The explicit approach could have occurred in the seminar that follows blogging in which the instructor pointed out and discussed the aspects of NOS regarding teacher’s reflection.
