  1. Session Va – Q & A Session V Part 3 of 3

  2. Questions? • How we answer this first question will pretty much determine the “bias” of how we feel about the other Q’s! • If a person at any time in their life believes in their heart and confesses with their mouth “ Jesus is Lord” are they saved - and if so can they lose that salvation?

  3. Do’s and don’ts? • Now that we understand the framework of the Bible …when someone says “ The Bible is full of do’s and don’ts” how will we respond? • A. The do’s and don’ts are from the Old Testament and which of the 10 commandments do you think we should NOT respect?

  4. Do’s and don’ts? • Galations 3:13 • Romans 5:18-20 • John 6:28,29 • Hebrews 8:6-13 • Galatians 5:18 • Matthew 22:36-39

  5. Questions? • “Does the Bible condone moderate drinking of alcohol?” • Wine was a part of everyday life for the Jew – beer was the same in Egypt ; non -alcoholic grape juice was not invented until Mr. Welch in 1869 • Jesus turned water into AGED Wine • Paul told Timothy to drink a little wine. • We can drink but we are warned about drunkenness

  6. moderate drinking of alcohol • Isaiah 25:6 Isaiah 65:21 • Col 2:16 • Romans 13:13Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. • 1 Timothy 3:3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

  7. Questions? • “Is baptism necessary for salvation? • Ephes. 2:8-9 • There is not one scripture that says we must be baptized to be saved– but it is a sign of obedience- in all the scriptures it is a sign of repentance! • 1 Peter 3:21and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

  8. Questions? • “If I am good I will get to heaven” • Isaiah 64:6 • James 2:10 • John 14:6

  9. Questions? • “Why does God seem different in the Old Testament compared to the New Testament?” • God witheldjudgement under the OLD covenant but the standard was set for Jesus-only he could not sin due to the lack of sin nature ( he still had temptation)– the Holy Spirit now indwells us to change us from the inside out which is part of the New Covenant .

  10. OT Law is for the Unbeliever • Galatians 3: 23-25 Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, lockedup until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.

  11. Questions? • God Is against Gay People! • John 3:16 • Romans 8:38 • In the OT the punishment for adultery was death…in a church the size of Celebration – How many adulterers might there be? • Should they be killed?

  12. God says “ It’s all a 10”

  13. God Is against Gay People • Aperson could become saved, still fall into homosexuality, be convicted by the Spirit of sinning, and all the while seek to break free from it.  So technically, he could be saved and be a homosexual -- not as a lifestyle, but as in struggling against his sin which sometimes can get the best of him.  It would be like a drug addict becoming a Christian and still being hooked on drugs.  He would struggle against it but still have the desire to participate in it.

  14. God Is against Gay People • Aperson who has professed Christ and is struggling against sin is demonstrating evidence of regeneration.   • The Holy Spirit is working in them to change them into the image of Christ – no different from a Christian who is struggling against: lying, stealing, profanity, gossiping, pride, addictions, pornography. • We are still saved but in the battle! • Romans 7:9

  15. God Is against Gay People • 1 Tim 1: 8We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine

  16. I love this!!!! • Finally, no dead people struggle for life.  Only those who are alive struggle.  Likewise, the dead in sin, the unregenerate, do not struggle against their sins.  Christians do. • Romans 7:9 New International Version (NIV) 9 Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died.

  17. 1 Cor. 6:9-11 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders [10] nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlerswill inherit the kingdom of God.

  18. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justifiedin the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
