  2. Commands • ‘Do not be unequally yoked together’ (14) • ‘Come out from them and be separate’ (17) Contrasts: • Righteousness / Lawlessness • Light / Darkness • Christ / Beliar (Satan) • Believer / Unbeliever • Temple of God / Idols

  3. A New Identity • ‘We are the temple of the living God’ (16) Promises: • I will make my dwelling among them and walk with them. I will be their God and they shall be my people. (16) • I will welcome you (17) • I will be a Father to you and you shall be sons and daughters to me (18)

  4. Call to continuing action • ‘Let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God’ (7:1)

  5. ‘Holiness’ ‘the habit of being of one mind with God, according as we find his mind described in scripture. It is the habit of agreeing in God’s judgement, hating what he hates, loving what he loves, and measuring everything in this world by the standard of his Word.’ (J.C. Ryle)

  6. Call to continuing action • ‘Let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God’ (7:1)
