TURKISH FEED MANUFACTURERS’ ASSOCIATION • Established in 1974 by 7 feed manufacturers following the entry into force of Turkish Feed Law • Its the unique NGO which represents compound Feed manufacturers in Turkey • It has 200 member feed millers • %87 of total compound feed production of Turkey supplies by its members • It is a member of IFIF (International Feed Industry Federation) & FEFAC (European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation)

  6. The Past of Compound Feed Sector in Turkey • The first enterprise started with private sector in 1955 • In 1956 a state-owned company named “Yem Sanayi Türk Inc.” entered the sector. It established 26 feed plants by making a partnership with private sector. • In 1965 private feed plants started to establish • In 1996 “Yem Sanayi Türk Inc.” sold all of its plants to private sector within the context of privatization. Since 1996 the whole of compound feed production has been producing by private feed plants.

The Present of Compound Feed Sector in Turkey • Nowadays, 646 registered feed plants are in the sector. 468 feed plants are active. • Capacity utilization rates are approximately at %60 • Most of the active feed plants are located at Central Anatolia, Marmara and AegeanRegions. • Total compound feed production was 7.467.081 tones in 2006.
