  5. Process to Enter

Admission to Medical School • Bachelor’s degree (Any Major, Doesn’t have to be Biology) • Completed the premedical requirements • Competitive Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) score. • Consideration for acceptance is limited to students with a minimum general average of • 75% or its equivalent in each of the following: • 1) Required premedical core courses • 2) Major courses • 3) General average • Interviews are granted to a selected group of applicants based on above.

Students are accepted to medical school on the basis of : • Academic qualifications MCAT score • Results of their interviews • Letters of recommendation from teachers and mentors their curriculum vitae • Among the traits that the successful applicant should demonstrate: • Humanistic and ethical attitudes • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Emotional maturity and personal integrity • Previous experience in research, community service and volunteer work are considered positive attributes.

  9. Acceptance into College College acceptance criteria: • Lebanese Baccalaureate /French system/High school Degree • Grades at school (usu. Grade 10,11,12 – 1st semester) • Entrance Exams/SATs/English Exams(TOEFL/EEE)

Your Major at College You can choose any major you want: • Biology • Chemistry • Physics • Psychology • Engineering • Business • Nutrition Moreover: You don’t have to be LS to be accepted into Biology or GS to be accepted into Engineering. In fact, it makes no difference if you’re LS or GS when you get to your undergrad years.

  11. Premedical Courses • In addition to taking major courses • In order to fulfill Medical School requirements • This way, you can belong toany major and be evaluated for the same courses as other applicants. • These courses may be also : • Major Requirement • University Requirement No overlap

  12. Premedical Courses • Biology • Chemistry • Physics • English • Humanities: History, Philosophy, Civilization Sequences (given priority), Fine Arts.. • Social Science

Preclinical (Med I & Med II) • Anatomy Courses (Dissection) • Biochemistry • Histology • Biophysics • Physiology • Neurology • Biostatistics • Social Preventative Medicine • Epidemiology • Pathology • Microbiology • Intro to Medicine: Cardiology(Heart), Nephrology(Kidney), Pulmonary(Lungs) • Physical Diagnosis • Pharmacology

  15. Preclinical (Med II) • Shadowing • Rotations (OBGYN, Pulmo, Nephro, Rheuma, Cardio…)

  16. Clinical Years(Med III & Med IV) Rotate in different Departments in Hospitals: • Surgery (enter Operating Room(OR) & assist the physicians) • Internal Medicine (examine your own patients) • Pediatrics (examine Babies & Children) • Emergency Room (ER) • Ophthalmology

  17. Graduation • You are an MD (Medical Doctor)! • You either stop general Medicine • Specialization( 3- 5 years) • Sub-specialization • Lebanon • Or Travel: Europe, U.S., others

  18. Medical School • Hectic BUT fun • Lose some old friends BUT makenew ones • A lot of studying BUT Extracurricular Activities (LeMSIC!!) • Chance to attend Conferences • Go for Exchanges • Meet medical students from all over the world • Long journey but its worth it!
