  3. #5 Pamplona, Spain San Fermin: “Running of the Bulls” - Pamplona (or Iruna) is home to the San Fermin festival (fiesta). San Fermin is a week long festival in celebration of summer and Saint Fermin which attracts over a million people per year. Popularized by Earnest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, San Fermin is best known for the morning event of “the running of the bulls.Each morning bulls race through the city on the streets (which are fenced off) along with thousands of people. The bulls end in an arena for a bull fight. - I went to San Fermin in July 2003. I was attracted to this event because of the thrill and the once in a lifetime experience. It was the finish to a European backpacking journey with two of my close friends.
