  5. To be a professional athlete: You need to be physically fit. Sometimes more in in one place than another. You need to have good senses, mostly a good sense of sight, hearing, and feeling. And of course, you need to be exceptional at the sport you are playing

  6. Some physical demands • People who are professional athletes report having to • Lift heavy loads • Be outside most of the time • Walking or running at least 1/3 of the time • Be exposed to dangerous situations where there is possible injury • Wear protective items

  7. Work Values • Achievement: You want to do the best you can and hopefully see rewards at the end after all your effort. • Support: It’s important that you know people have your back.

  8. People interested in this field should be: • REALISTIC, or a “doer.” A person who likes being physical and being hands-on. • ENTERPRISING, or a “persuader.” You think power is important to you.

  9. Skills For this job you wouldn’t need academic skills very much. However you physical and social skills are very important in this business.

  10. The average annual wage for a professional athlete in California is about $119,000. The average annual wage in the US however is less, only about $90,000

  11. The reason I would want to have this as my job is because I love sports. It would be one of the best things for me if I played on a professional team. My job would be something I actually like doing.

  12. Part Two:The Back Up Plan

  13. Architect

  14. What They Do • An architect designs structures for residential, commercial, and industrial property owners. • Monitors and reviews on-site construction. • Plans layouts of projects. • Makes scale drawings of structure

  15. People interested in this field should be: • ARTISTIC, a “creator.” Liking things such as art & music. • REALISTIC, or a “doer.” A person who likes being physical and being hands-on

  16. Work Values • Achievement: You want to do the best you can and hopefully see rewards at the end after all your effort. • Independence: You like that lets you make your own choices, and can try ideas with little supervision.

  17. Skills Reading comprehension, Active listening, Writing, Speaking, Mathematics, Science, Critical thinking, Active learning, and Monitoring are all skills that you need at at least a medium to high level. Also, at least a Bachelors Degree in Architecture. I would definitely need to go to college after high school.

  18. The average annual wage for an architect in California is about 73,000 In the US it’s about 64,000

  19. The reason I chose an architect is because I enjoy building things. I like the whole plan and design aspect of trying to make the right structure. Being an architect sounds fun and also a challenge.
