  3. General • Mission • The mission of AIT in the context of the emerging environment is • "to develop highly qualified and committed professionals who will play a leading role in the sustainable development of the region and its integration into the global economy".

  25. Calendar Number of Credits and Curriculum Structure • Master’s Degree: • consist of 48 credits with 720 contact-hours. The thesis option will have a minimum of 26 credits of coursework and 22 credits of thesis whereas a research study option will have a minimum of 38 credits of coursework and 10 credits of research study. • Doctoral Degree*: • minimum of 84 credits that comprise a minimum of 24 credits of coursework including 6 credits of special study and 60 credits of thesis. * May change

Calendar Number of Credits and Curriculum Structure • Certificate of Advanced Studies • minimum of 24 credits of coursework including 6 credits of special study. • Diploma: • minimum of 24 credits of coursework including 6 credits of special study leading to a presentation of a project report • Certificate: • minimum of 9 credits coursework and is recommended as a trial program for students who seek the transfer to a master’s program if they obtain satisfactory GPA.

Note, however, that living expenses may vary depending on individual needs and life styles. ** For the doctoral program, the tuition fee already covers nominal research expenditures sufficient to produce a complete dissertation. However, if the candidate plans to undertake large-scale, cost-intensive research, supplementary funding from non-AIT sources must be secured.

  28. Calendar AIT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (SCHOLARSHIPS, FELLOWSHIPS AND ASSISTANTSHIPS) • Scholarships • Scholarships at the Master and Doctoral levels are awarded on a highly competitive basis to exceptionally well-qualified applicants, in the top 5% of their graduating class.

Calendar AIT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (SCHOLARSHIPS, FELLOWSHIPS AND ASSISTANTSHIPS) • Institute Fellowships • The Institute Fellowships are offered to qualified students, who can not avail of the limited number of AIT full scholarships. Fellowships do not include accommodation and living allowance expenses, which are the responsibility of individual students • Fellowships for the Master’s Program take three forms: 12 Credit, 24 Credit or 36 Credit Fellowships • Fellowships for the Doctoral Program take two forms: 26 Credit or 52 Credit Fellowships

ARO ARO : Plan for coming year (1 January 2003 - 31 December 2003) • Alumni Relations Panel (ARP) 2003: • to assist Secretary to the Board of Trustees • to facilitate the ARP meeting • AIT Promotion and Student Recruitment: • to help student recruitment by seeking assistance from • prominent senior alumni who work with universities • in the region. • to set up AIT Promotion and Recruitment Desk in • various countries with the assistance of AITAA Chapters • and other prominent alumni

ARO ARO : Plan for coming year (1 January 2003 - 31 December 2003) • Alumni Database Management: • to update alumni information in order get more accurate • data for donor, schools and programs as well as for alumni • AIT Alumni E-mail list: • to update active e-mail as much as possible • AIT Alumni Web: • will serve as portal to AIT Alumni Directory (online)

ARO ARO : Plan for coming year (1 January 2003 - 31 December 2003) • AIT Alumni (Electronic) Newsletter: • Issue 3 by the end of Dec 02 or early Jan 03 • 4 more issues in 2003 • AIT Alumni Tracer Study: • will focus on specific groups (per donor group, • within a time frame, country by country etc.)

ARO ARO : Plan for coming year (1 January 2003 - 31 December 2003) • “Technology with AIT” VCD: • to produce up to the final (35th) episode. • AIT Faculty Travel: • to inform AITAA Mother Chapter as well as to National • Chapters if agreeable • General Services to Alumnus/Alumna • ARO will continue to provide services as before.

Request ARO’s request to AITAA Chapters and Alumni • Encourage alumni to update their information online. • Provide Chapter member list including their e-mail addresses. • Feedback and contribution AIT Alumni (Electronic) Newsletter. • Answer AIT Alumni Tracer Study Questionnaires and • encourage other alumni friends to do so. • (*MS Word version will be available online very soon.)
