  1. How to Maintain Menstrual Hygiene Females should keep in mind a few things to maintain menstrual hygiene. It is important to change sanitary napkins after every few hours. Keeping the genital areas clean is also important. Today with female hygiene getting so much attention and the social stigma around it slowly disappearing, women feel more comfortable in their own skin. This positive swing has a lot to do with the changing mind-set in society. Couples no longer obsess over having a boy. All they desire is a healthy kid. A girl’s parents are now more involved and open to conversations on menstrual hygiene because they realize it is a part of their daughter’s wellbeing. Some basic information on feminine hygiene and menstrual products like non-woven cotton like sanitary napkins that every menstruating female should be aware of is: When to change your sanitary napkin? You need to change your sanitary pads every 4-6 hours to avoid rashes and infection. Although the menstrual flow is different for each girl, the first two days are generally heavy, and you might need to change the sanitary pad more often. So whether you are going to school, college or work carry extra non-woven cotton like sanitary pads with you. Why and how to clean? Keeping your vagina fresh and clean is even more important during periods. So wash regularly once or twice to prevent infections. The bacterium (good bacteria) inside the vagina keeps it clean and healthy and maintains a perfect pH level. However, during periods the menstrual blood can increase this pH level resulting in infections. So regularly cleaning yourself is essential. It’s better to avoid soap as it disturbs the pH balance. If you use soap or gel make sure it is mild. Also, you should wash your genitals from front to back, i.e. cleaning from vagina to anus and not vice versa. After cleaning pat dry with a towel or tissue to keep the region dry. SOFY Women’s Sanitary NapkinEmail: customercare@unicharm.com Call us - +91 9971988339 Timing: 10:00 AM -5:00 PM (Monday-Friday)

  2. How to dispose of the sanitary pads? Make sure you discard the cotton like pads for periods properly. Do not ever flush sanitary pads as they can clog the toilets. Keep the plastic seal of the napkin after removing it and before throwing the used napkin, wrap it in the plastic cover and a paper bag or toilet paper. Do not mix it with other household waste, have a separate bin for it. Remember to wash your hands properly after changing your sanitary napkin to be germ-free. Besides these points, it is always better to wear comfortable, cotton clothes during your periods as it allows air to flow through and keep the genital area dry. Wearing tight fitted synthetic clothes or jeans will cause sweating, discomfort and might lead to rashes. Also, there are various types of sanitary pads available in the market for your menstrual needs – from regular sized to extra-long for greater absorbency, ultra-thin for more comfort, bigger napkins for overnight use, napkins with wings for extra protection, etc. Choose the one which you find most comfortable for your skin and serve your purpose best. At the end of your periods and a few days prior to your date, you can use non- woven cotton like panty liners to take care of spotting or sudden flow. Panty linersare much more comfortable than pads, and you won’t feel a thing. So you can relax and go about your life worry-free.
