  1. Impact of Weather on the Menstrual Cycle The weather impacts the menstrual cycle because there are changes in the diet, sleeping patterns and changes in the temperature which regulate the menstrual cycle. Weather changes are known to have impacted your menstrual cycle because of several reasons. With the changes in the climate, there are changes in the environment also which directly affects the nature and duration of menstruation. During the summertime, there is an increase in the secretion of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) which helps in regulating the reproductive processes of the body. In winters, one ovulates less frequently and experiences a longer menstrual cycle. Change in the temperature is responsible for affecting the metabolism rate which can lead to hormonal imbalances. Below are a few reasons because of which the menstruation cycle gets affected: ●Change in food habits With seasonal changes, food habits also start changing. During summers, the body temperature increases because of the food we eat. Summer fruits like pineapple and papaya are considered to be responsible for bringing the periods faster along with generating heat in the pelvic region and contracting the uterus. In the wintertime, one experiences an increase in their diet because of which the estrogen level in the body rises to another level. This impacts the length of the menstrual cycle. ●Change in physical activity With changes in the weather, the capacity of indulging in physical activities also decreases. In summers, one will be able to do more physical exercises as compared to winters. If exercising is done regularly in summers, the menstrual cycle gets altered by two to three days every time. Whereas, during winters, the limit of exercising reduces which pushes back the date of periods. During the wintertime, we also increase the consumption of alcohol and increase the intake of sugary foods which can lead to the elevation of symptoms of PMS. 2. ●Exposure to the Sun The exposure to sunlight in the summers can lead to a surge of hormones which affect the working of the menstrual cycle. Exposure to increased sunlight causes an increase in FSH secretion, increase in follicle size, the sac that houses the ovaries and further reduces the menstrual cycle. ●Dramatic changes in temperature Major changes in temperature affect the metabolic rate which leads to hormonal imbalances. This leads to longer period cycles and changes in the symptoms. During winters, the cold weather leads to the constriction of blood vessels which increases period pain and affects the menstrual flow. ●Behavioral Changes With a change in the weather, there are certain behavioral changes which one gets to experience. During the winters, one starts exercising less, eats food high in fat and sugar and starts consuming more alcohol. The behavioral changes lead to lifestyle changes which increase the period pain and symptoms like bloating, moodiness and breast pain. During menstruation, women pads and tampons are extremely useful as they can absorb the flow for a few hours without the fear of leakage. For girls who menstruate heavily, XL sanitary pads are useful since these pads can absorb the blood flow without making the pad to start leaking. Sanitary napkins online is also another option for purchasing pads as one can compare the prices and check the various options which are available. Pantyliners is another product which is useful during non-period days when women are experiencing vaginal discharge. There are a few prominent pantyliners brands emerging in the market which offer protection from vaginal discharge and ensure that hygiene is maintained.
