  2. Secondary markets from a shipper point-of-view (1): • DONG Energy holds a diversified gas supply portfolio as a combination of own production, long supply contracts from different countries and LNG. • In order to provide a high level of security of supply we need to be able to book short-term, medium-term and long-term capacity contracts at each IP point at least once a year. • => • The gas business should • be based on "Well- • functioning Markets" • as shown in the picture • in this slide • and …

  3. Secondary markets from a shipper point-of-view (2): … functioning Secondary Markets are an ad-on feature with the main purpose to manage the daily/short term challenges ! It is DONG Energy's view point that : • (manpower)-focus had to be on general market challenges (primary capacity via regular bookings or open season bookings – and if necessary capacity reallocation/release) • compared to other market risks the potential "value" of secondary capacity markets has a relative low priority • availability of products and processes critical has to become a reliable part of daily business (especially in Germany with different market areas) =>Players need a longer "trust-building" period and fitting processes (e.g. auctions) should be analyzed to support the right improvements.
