  12. Energy Efficiency Conformity Assessment in Energy Efficiency Energy management systems — Requirements with guidance for use ISO/CD 50001 ISO TC 242Secretariat: ANSI SANS 50001, Energy management systems - Requirements with guidance for use

  13. ISO/CD 50001 This International Standard specifies requirements for an energy management system (EnMS) to develop and implement an energy policy, establish objectives, targets, and action plans, which take into account legal requirements and information pertaining to significant energy use. An energy management system enables an organization to achieve its policy commitments, take action as needed to improve its energy performance and demonstrate the conformity of the system to the requirements of this International Standard. Application of the standard can be tailored to fit the requirements of the organization, including complexity of the system, degree of documentation, and resources and applies to the activities under the control of an organization. This International Standard is based on the Plan-Do-Check-Act continual improvement framework and incorporates energy management into everyday organization practices.

  14. PDCA Systems Plan, Do, Check, Act. Similar to 9001, 14001, OSHAS 18001 etc.

  15. ISO/CD 50001 This International Standard can be used for certification/registration and/or self-declaration of an organization's energy management system. It does not establish absolute requirements for energy performance beyond the commitments in the energy policy of the organization and its obligation to comply with relevant legislation. Thus, two organizations carrying out similar operations but having different energy performance can both conform to its requirements. The organization may choose to integrate ISO 50001 with those of other management systems such as quality, environment, occupational health and safety or social responsibility.

  16. SANS or ISO 50001 Energy Management System Standard Measured Attestation Certification Monitoring Integration with other management systems

  17. Integrated systems and audits ISO 19011 audit systematic, independent and documented process for obtaining audit evidence and evaluating it objectively to determine the extent to which the audit criteria are fulfilled When two or more management systems of different disciplines are audited together, this is termed a combined audit. When two or more auditing organizations cooperate to audit a single auditee organization, this is termed a joint audit. integrated management system single management system into which elements of two or more management system standards for specific disciplines have been consolidated and merged.

  18. Integrated systems and audits Definitions ISO 17021-2 third-party certification audit systematic and documented process carried out by an external, independent auditing organization for the purpose of certifying the client's management system When two or more auditing organizations cooperate to audit a single client, this is termed a joint audit. When a client is being audited against the requirements of two or more management systems standards together then this is termed a combined audit. When a client has integrated the application of requirements of two or more management systems standards into a single management system and is being audited against more than one standard, then this is termed an integrated audit.

  19. Conclusion People/Planet Interface World population approx 6.3 billion people Growing at approx 73 million per year Means a new Johannesburg and Pretoria every month! People need water, housing and of course energy Energy efficiency through conformity assessment can contribute towards meeting future needs.
