  2. What is philabundance? • Philabundance is an organization in the Delaware Valley that provides food for those who are at risk of hunger and malnutrition. • The organization was founded in 1984 and in 2005 they merged with the Philadelphia Food Bank. • They are now able to address hunger through direct service programs and and network of 500 member agencies.

  3. How Philabundance operates • Food donations come from farms, manufacturers and importers, retailers and wholesalers, and community food drives. • Philabundance receives the food along with support from financial contributors. • The philabundance organization then sends the food to the network of agencies, philabundance community kitchens, and philabundance direct distribution programs. • The food is then delivered to people in need.

  4. Philabundance Programs • Commodity Supplemental Food Program • Emergency Food Box • Fresh For All • Community Food Center • Philabundance Community Kitchen • Grocers Against Hunger • Food Help Line • Baby Manna

  5. Commodity supplemental Food program • This program provides eligible seniors, 60 years and older with boxes of donated food which is sorted and delivered monthly. Emergency Food Box • This program provides a 30 pound box of food to families in emergency food situations and there is enough food to provide a family of four with three meals a day for 3 days.

  6. Fresh For all • “Fresh for all” provides fresh produce into the hands of those who need it. COMMUNITY FOOD CENTER • The community food center is a pantry where clients can choose from available items instead of being given a prepared bag or box.

  7. Philabundance Community Kitchen • This is an adult culinary arts training program that supplies critically needed meals to agencies and area emergency kitchens serving people with food insecurity. GROCERS AGAINST HUNGER • The grocers against hunger program works with grocery stores in the Delaware Valley to prevent unnecessary food waste from filling landfills and instead feeding neighbors who need it.

  8. Food help line • People who are in need of food can call the food help line at 800-319-FOOD to find assistance nearest by them. A bilingual Philabundance staff member is available to answer the phones during Mon-Fri 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. BABY MANNA • This program is a yearly campaign to raise funds for baby formula and other infant needs.

  9. How can you help? • If you want to help Philabundance help your community there are a number of options you can choose from which can all be found on the Philabundance website at: • http://www.philabundance.org// • Give money • Give food • Volunteer • Host a food drive • Hold a benefit • Become a partner of Philabundance • Join Philabundance’s social networks • Attend events • Hold a charity badge • Hold a coin drive
