  2. Content • Definition of verb phrase . • The types of verb phrase: 1-transitive verb 2-Intransitive verb 3-Ditransitive verb 4-intensive verb 5-complex – transitive verb

  3. Definition of verb phrase A verb phrase consists of a verb and all the words and word groups that belong with the verb and cluster around it.

  4. Types of verb phrase: transitive verb Transitive verb which needs a direct object. Examples : 1- He eats apple. 2- The girls like make-up.

  5. Intransitive Verb • Intransitive verb is a class of verb which does not make an object. Examples : 1- the baby cried. 2- she snores.

  6. ditransitive Verb Ditransitive is the verb which include two direct object. Examples : 1- I give the baby chocolate. 2- I tell a story for children.

  7. Intensive Verb • Intensive verbs belongs a small group which include verbs like , seem,appear,become,look. • Its subject needs complement. • Examples : 1- He is a doctor 2- she seems happy

  8. Complex – transitive Verb It is a class of verb which its direct object needs a complement. Examples : 1- Kate thought John a fool. 2-

  9. Imperative verb It is the verb which used to give commands or instruction. In this verb we do not need to add a subject. Examples : 1- read the story. 2-close the door.
