  1. PEOPLE ARE AWESOME.. WHEN THEY PERSIST Thoughts for each Day YEAR 7 DACW

  2. Helen Keller – day 1 Helen Keller (1880 – 1968) Despite disability of both deafness and blindness, she learned to read and write. She became a champion of social issues and helping to improve the welfare of deaf people. She also invented the braille language. Keller came into contact with American author, Mark Twain. Twain admired the perseverance of Keller and helped persuade Henry Rogers, an oil businessman to fund her education. With great difficulty, Keller was able to study at Radcliffe College, where in 1904, she was able to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree. During her education, she also learned to speak and practise lip-reading. Her sense of touch became extremely subtle. Consider the difficulties Helen had to overcome. Can you think of a time when you wanted to give up, but didn’t?

  3. NICK VIJUVIC - day 2 Nick Vujicic was born in Melbourne, Australia with the rare Tetra-amelia disorder: limbless, missing both arms at shoulder level, and having one small foot with two toes protruding from his left thigh. Despite the absence of limbs, he is doing surf and swimming, and playing golf and soccer. Nick graduated from college at the age of 21 with a double major in Accounting and Financial Planning. He began his travels as a motivational speaker, focusing on the topics that today's teenagers face. How many times are you prepared to try something before giving up?
