Study Abroad at MiraCosta • Offers university transferrable classes with transcript from California Community College (Citrus College) • Courses taught by California instructors who travel with the students to the host country --- so all classes taught in English • Classes include only students and faculty enrolled in the program. Classes meet in one classroom assigned at the University of London Union Campus. • Students pay tuition and fees for a minimum of 12 academic units to Citrus College, a California Community College for the same cost as taking classes at MiraCosta.. • Program fees cover the cost of housing and services in the host country • Participants must be 18 years of age or older

  8. Eligibility • Completion of twelve units of degree applicable or transferable college units by Spring 2014 • Cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (MiraCosta policy) • Must be 18 years of age before departure • Must enroll in 12 units during semester program

Housing Homestay accommodation is included in the program fee – No additional charge: Twin-bedded room in a home in London with breakfast M-F; kitchen facilities shared with host • Apartment Option is an additional $950: Shared apartment in central London; furnished and fully equipped kitchen. No meals included.

Expenses Not Included • $250 refundable damage deposit • Passport • Personal Expenses • Meals (breakfast is included in homestay) Apartments include cooking equipment but not food • Community College enrollment fees • Textbooks • Airfare (Round trip with shuttle from London to housing) Can purchase group fare: • September 4 flight: $570 plus airline imposed taxes/fuel surcharges of $796 • EuroTour Flight: $525 plus airline imposed taxes/fuel surcharge of $795 Participants can choose to book their own flights to and from London

  13. OPTION Group Airfare • Round-trip airfare Los Angeles (LAX) to London will be available for purchase. Airfare price includes transfer from airport to housing. • Group airfare has specific travel dates: - departure on Thursday, September 4 - return Friday, November 14 OR Friday, November 28 • Price: airfare $570 + $796 taxes/fees/fuel surcharge • = $1,366

  14. OPTIONAL TRIPS • Optional Cultural Activities - 4 one-day excursions and 6 evening events $525 (including transportation, guide, and entrance fees). Locations often include Stratford-Upon-Avon, Oxford, Brighton, Stonehenge and Salisbury, Bath • Six Cultural Events • Theatre – Musical, Drama and Comedy • Program usually includes a ticket to a rugby game or football match (that’s soccer to you!) • Optional tour of Scotland – 4 days/3 nights - $595 • Optional European tour – 5 days/4 nights - $995 • Medical insurance IS included in the program, but if you want to increase the coverage - Optional Medical Insurance Upgrade is $65 • Optional Personal Property Coverage is $90

Financial Aid Guidelines • Study Abroad Financial Aid is Processed at Citrus College for ALL Eligible College Students attending fall 2014 in London • All students applying for financial aid at Citrus College must adhere to Citrus College’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards (SAPS) which includes but is not limited to: student’s limited to a maximum of 72completed total units, enrolled in an eligible program, and maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.

Financial Aid IF YOU ALREADY APPLIED FOR 2014-2015 at MiraCosta College • Add Citrus College on your Student Aid Report or call the processor (800) 433-3243 to add Code 001166 • Forward official sealed copies of ALL academic transcripts to Citrus College • Complete Citrus College application for admission Applications available online http://www.citruscollege.edu • Send the Request for Financial Assistance forms included in your Study Abroad materials to Citrus College now, Attention: Julie Martinez

Financial Aid IF YOU WANT FINANCIAL AID BUT HAVE NOT APPLIED FOR 2014-2015 • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) ASAP – Application available on-line at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Follow instructions. • List school code of study abroad host college to receive your Student Aid Report: Citrus College code - Code 001166; MiraCosta code - 001239 • Sign and mail Request Financial Assistance sheet • Follow remaining procedure list in Applying for Financial Aid

  19. Need more money? • AIFS Ambassador Scholarships – Available only to student applicants to London! Deadline June 14, 2013 • Do you have a Pell Grant with your Financial Aid award? Gilman Scholarship is a national scholarship competition for study abroad participation. Deadline: The deadline: March 4, 2014 by 11:59pm Central Time. www.iie.org/gilman • MiraCosta Foundation offering scholarships for Fall 2014. Look at the MiraCosta Scholarship Website for deadlines! Also deadline for London Ambassador Scholarship application • July TBA– pay balance of program fees • August TBA – attend program orientation
