  2. Welcome! We are honored to have you join us as a member of the J.R.E. Lee Chapter! This presentation gives an overview on the who, what and why of the Chapter and how to get involved. Welcome again, and we look forward to serving with you!

  3. JRE Lee Chapter History Founded in 1933 Named to Honor 3rd FAMU President John Robert Edward Lee, Sr. 1943 - Largest chapter in the nation 1953 - Helped change FAMC to FAMU

  4. JRE Lee Chapter Mission The JRE Lee Chapters Mission is to… • Recruit Areas Top Students to Attend FAMU • Retain and Expand the Alumni Network • Support the University Financially • Extend FAMU’s Presence into the Community

  5. JRE Lee Chapter Focus The chapter focus is the main objective to be achieved under the chapters current administration. • Established by the president • Corresponds to one or more mission areas • Meets chapter or university needs

  6. Chapter Officers Serve for a period of 2 years Can only serve two consecutive years in 1 office, but can run for other offices thereafter Elected by Majority Vote President appoints nomination committee and members can nominate from the floor Next Election Year is even year (2008,2010, etc.) Current officers – See website www.famujacksonville.com

  7. Committee Chairs Serve for a period of 2 years Can serve longer if new president elect appoints an existing chairperson Appointed by President Meet when necessary to carry out work Current Chairpersons – See website www.famujacksonville.com

  8. Work Flow President & Officers – complete chapter work plan and assign tasks and budget to committee chairs Committee chairs – work with committee members to execute assigned tasks Feedback & Ideas – Submitted to Executive officers through website for consideration in next years work plan

  10. New Members are Needed to.. Participate in committee meetings Assist committee in event planning and coordination Attend chapter meetings Participate in chapter events & outings Have fun!

An Effective Committee Member Knows the chapters mission & focus Works on a committee where their skills can make a difference Takes on only as much work as they have time to be accountable for Takes on assignments that are in their area of expertise or where they have contacts Is passionate about the chapters mission

  12. Get Involved! You Are Needed! Assess your strengths Evaluate your availability Choose a committee to work on Sign up & Have fun! ANY RATTLERS IN THE HOUSE?
