  2. FONASBA’s COMMITMENT TO THE POSEIDON CHALLENGE 2006:“To use the resources of our members around the world to produce a database of port reception facilities for slops and other residues of liquid cargoes”

  3. RESULT:The publication, at the 2007 INTERTANKO Tanker Event in Houston, of the FONASBA Port Reception Facilities Survey • 15 countries • Approximately 90 ports • More than 110 separate reception facilities • Available from the FONASBA website: • www.fonasba.com - Documents

WHAT NEXT ?? • Update to the Poseidon Challenge Booklet • Continue work in IMO on development of Standard Ship-Generated Waste Delivery and Receipt forms • Encourage adherence by ports and terminals to their obligations for the provision of reception facilities under MARPOL • Undertake a similar exercise for dry bulk cargoes

  7. THE FONASBA QUALITY STANDARD • Why do we need it? • The increasing responsibilities and liabilities placed upon the agent and broker in the service of his principal, and the consequent need to maintain high levels of service provision

  8. THE FONASBA QUALITY STANDARD • What does it aim to achieve? • An increase in the level of professionalism in the industry • Greater awareness of the role of the agent and broker and of FONASBA

  9. THE FONASBA QUALITY STANDARD • Who can achieve it? • Any company member of a FONASBA association that meets and maintains the relevant criteria

  10. THE FONASBA QUALITY STANDARD • What are the criteria? • Membership of a FONASBA association • Proof of financial probity and appropriate measures to protect a principal’s funds, • A commitment to staff training • www.fonasba.com - Quality Standard
