  2. TWO Wireless • Many of our TWO sites use Wireless Communication for their Workstations • It’s easy to set-up and convenient but does add some security risks. • To manage this added risk we have some rules and requirements for Wireless TWO Computer Workstations. September 2013 TCS Webinar

  3. TWO Wireless Computers • All Wireless TWO computer workstations must have an up-to-date antivirus program and an active firewall. Windows Update should also be current. • Personally owned, site provided and some donated computers are required to meet additional requirements and be registered to be used as a Wireless workstation for TWO. • AARP provided and donated computers with the AARP provided Image are exempt from the additional requirements and Registration.   4. TWO Wireless Computers • A document titled “Wireless TWO –Security Scanning Procedure” provides the details on these requirements. Basically they include.. • Run an Anti-virus scan and copy the results. • Insure that security sensitive programs are up-to date. These include Windows Update, Acrobat Reader and Flash Player, Java. • Register the computer on an AARP Tax-Aide website between Dec. 15 and Jan. 30 and provide the copy of the Anti-virus Scan. TWO Wireless Computers • Currently the AARP IT Security Department requires that an on-line scanning program be run to verify that the security sensitive programs are up-to-date. • We are investigating alternatives to this requirement because some volunteers have difficulty or are unable to run the program because it requires that Java be installed on the computer. TWO Wireless Computers • We expect to resolve these requirements well before the due date for Registration. • We are presenting this topic now, because the Registration requirement can be eliminated for any donated computer if it has the AARP Image installed. • This is a new exemption for the 2014 tax season.
