  1. Electronic Communication and Website Development for your Chapter • Presented by • Dr. Soror Brandy Bush and Soror Gayle Lyke • on behalf of DZZ Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

  2. Objectives • 1. Sorors will be able to identify 3 free web based services that can provide solutions for improving chapter communication. • 2. Sorors will be able to identify 2 types of page widgets that can be assets to a website for increased communication.

  3. Purpose • Our chapter's solutions were all executed by a chapter soror without a background in the tech industry and who had not used these products before. • This demonstrates that it is possible to create a professional website with a little time to become familiar with the products and with limited resources. • The increased speed and completion of communication in the chapter has improved the sisterly connection with current sorors and has helped the chapter reclaim sorors who were able to connect with our chapter by finding us on the web.

  4. What DZZ Uses: Website • Website platform: www.weebly.com • Cost: Can be completely free but $67.90 for 2 years for the custom domain. $47.88/year for a Pro account which allows access to all features of the platform. • Domain: Can be free if you allow .weebly.com to be at the end. DZZ pays for the domain name to have a more professional address which is www.zetaspgcounty.org

  5. What DZZ Uses: Email • Email platform: www.groups.google.com • Cost: Free • How: Via Weebly you can sign up to use your domain at the end and create up to 30 email addresses such as info@zetaspgcounty.org which routes to our Grammateus’ personal email address. • Chapter Communication: dzzmembers@googlegroups.com is managed by the Grammateus and when new members are added, emails are added to this listserve so chapter communication can go out to everyone by sending it to the above email address. Can make multiple.

  6. Other free options • Website platform: www.sites.google.com • Calendar platform: www.calendar.google.com • Email platform: www.groups.yahoo.com

  7. Website Widgets • Google Calendar: Can be set to send reminders automatically; sorors can sync their own google calendars to the chapter calendar. • Document Download: Can upload chapter documents to the Members Only section or applications/forms for community to download. Settings depend on platform. • Payments: Create a free PayPal account and create buttons on the Paypal website that can be added to your website for maximal integration.

  8. Website Widgets • Social Media: Don’t forget to hyperlink your social media links to your website • Photo Gallery: Upload chapter event photos so all sorors can access the photos and to create a chapter archive that is accessible by all. Zeta website policy is that photo releases be on file if pictures are public.
