  3. *DAILY SCHEDULE* 8:40-8:50 Morning Routines 8:50-10:00 Everyday Math 10:00-10:42 Specials 10:45-11:00 Snack/restroom break 11:00-12:00 Language Arts (Spelling, Grammar, Reading strategies ) 12:00-1:00 Reading Workshop (Daily Five, Guided Reading, Independent study, writing) 1:05-2:00 Recess/Lunch 2:00-2:45 Social Studies, Workshop 2:57 Dismissal(car rider, walkers, latchkey) 3:00-3:10 Dismissal(buses)

  4. Everyday Mathematics Everyday Mathematics is our math program. It emphasizes problem solving and number sense through practical applications. The program is based on a “spiral curriculum” design. Therefore, the program touches upon skills many times in many different ways. Please read the family letter sent home prior to the beginning of each chapter. Please save this for reference throughout the chapter.

  5. Lunch and Recess • Recess • Students should be dressed appropriately for the weather • During the winter, make sure students have labeled winter coats, gloves, hats, and scarves • A child may miss recess due to homework and/or class work not being completed • Lunch • Please pack nutritious foods • Lunches do not have to be nut-free • Students should put their money in a baggie with their name and room number on it • Please put names on lunch boxes *If your child has received free/reduced lunch in the past, or if you are interested in free/reduced lunch for the current school year, please ask the office for a form. New forms need to be submitted each year.

  6. Discipline If your child continuously breaks school rules, a behavior report will be sent home from Mrs. Wieland to notify you of the inappropriate behavior.

  7. *ART* Smocks can be used for art class. Please send in an old shirt labeled with your child’s name. **Optional *LIBRARY* Please return the library books each week. SPECIALS *Physical Education* Please wear sneakers and pants or shorts on gym days. Please do not wear jewelry on these days.

  8. Homework • Child’s Responsibility • Parent’s Responsibility • PLEASE check homework each night and sign the homework agenda after you have looked to see that the homework is completed. • Your child should read and practice math facts every night, even if it is not written in the homework agenda. Math home links will be checked every day. Weekly Spelling sheet with due dates will come home on Monday.

  9. Absences • Parents are required to call the school clinic @ 440-943-7784 to report an absence. • Whenever your child is absent from school, please send in an excuse note when he/she returns. • Students are TARDY after 8:40 am and are required to report to the office before going to their classroom.

  10. As you leave, please take a moment to tour our classroom and feel free to stop in to meet your child’s specials teachers. Please sign up to volunteer and choose a time for parent-teacher conferences in November. THANK YOU FOR COMING!
