The Award& Contract Purpose • $9407.24 • TO DEVELOP A UNIFIED ESF-8 MANAGEMENT OF HEALTHCARE WITH ACUTE CARE FACILITES, COUNTY EMD, AND FIRST RESPONDERS DURING A PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY THROUGH FACILITATION, COORDINATION, AND UTILIZATION OF MEDICAL RESOURCES, PATIENT TRANSFER AGREEMENTS AND MUTUAL AID ON THE COALITION LEVEL.

  4. THE GOAL • TO BE PREPARED FOR THE INFLUX OF MASS CASUALTIES BY PROVIDING RESOURCES TO EACH COUNTY WHILE MAINTAINING THEIR AVAILABILITY TO THE REGION AND STATE UPON REQUEST.

  5. The Assets Purchased 2-PM 1500 Motorola Two-Way Mobile Radios For Coroner Transport / Command Unit UHF Unit VHF Unit With Dual Remote Control Heads Programming Software & Cables

  6. The asset allows the interoperability communication with all local, regional and state agencies during a mass casualty event. The dual control head feature allows for the radios to be operated from the cab or rear command.

  7. Nikon D5100 Digital Camera • For use in the photographing of the deceased for identification and logging purposes. The unit is also equipped with another asset.

  8. A Nikon GPS Adapter that enables the plotting of the exact location of the deceased via mapping software for a permanent record.

  9. Panasonic Toughbook 31Laptop Computer • This computer will be used in the collection and maintaining of forensic data of the deceased through the Universal Victims Identification software provided by a separate D-HEC HPP Grant through the South Carolina Coroner’s Association.

  10. MOBILE PRINTER/SCANNER/COPIER • This device was placed in the mobile command unit to enable the immediate printing, scanning and copying of documents in mass casualty and other situations while in the field.

  11. In Conclusion The South Carolina Hospital Preparedness Program Region 2 Coalition partnership with the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office exemplifies a unified effort to enhance its ability to handle mass casualties through the purchase of equipment and supplies while also expanding the training of its staff through the grant program. It also brings together a cooperative effort to assist other agencies within the region and state with those resources and personnel when requested.
