  1. La fête des Rois Le 6 janvier

  2. Religious origin According to an old legend based on a Bible story, three kings (three “wise” men) saw, on the night when Christ was born, a bright star, followed it to Bethlehem and found there the Christ child and presented it with gold and other gifts.

  3. How do we celebrate? We eat la brioche des rois or La galette des rois. Inside each “cake”, there is a plastic or porcelain mini figure hidden (la fève). Whoever gets it becomes “le roi” or “la reine” for the day and chooses his king or queen. Whoever become king or queen is sometimes expected to bring in another brioche or galette des rois… This can go on the whole month of January!!
