  1. Prayer Walking Preparing the Cityto Receivethe Presence of God

  2. Prayer Walking Outline • The Curse of Sin • Know Your Enemy – You Only Have ONE • Before You Enter the Battle • God’s Power Tools • Your Spiritual Wardrobe • Walking the Walk • After the Prayer Walk

  3. Lesson Two Know Your Enemy – You Only Have ONE

  4. Who is the enemy? • Satan is your enemy. (1 Peter 5:8) The name satan actually means “adversary or one that opposes.” • A fallen angel – Lucifer (Ezekiel 28:12-17). • You can not ignore satan. A soldier can not ignore an enemy soldier on the battlefield. Ignoring the enemy could get you killed. Ignoring satan can also get you killed.

  5. crafty (Gen 3:1) the deceiver (Gen 3:13) the foe and avenger (Ps 8:2) the destroyer (Is 54:16) the tempter (Matt 4:3; 1 Thes 3:5) ruler of demons [Beelzebub] (Matt 12:24) a murderer (John 8:44) a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44) the evil one (Matt 6:13; John 17:15) god of this age (2 Corinth 4:4) an angel of light (2 Corinth 11:14) the ruler of the kingdom of the air (Eph 2:2) the dragon,… that ancient serpent (Rev 12:7-9) the accuser (Rev 12:10) satan is called …

  6. Where is satan now? • Satan is roaming the earth. (Ezekiel 28:17). • 1 Peter 5:8 “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (destroy).”

  7. What does satan want? Satan wants to… 1. keep sinners from knowing the truth about Jesus Christ 2. keep Christians powerless! 3. keep all the praise for himself.

  8. Why? • Satan hates God. He knows God already defeated him, but he wants to take as many people to hell with him as he can. • Satan hated Eve, because she was made in God’s image. He tried to destroy her. He knew the price for sin was death. • Satan hates all of Eve’s children (that includes you and me). He still knows the price for sin is death. He wants all of us eternally dead.

  9. Lure people into sin and bring us into sin’s bondage. Satan’s plan can be as simple as being BUSY or as complex as drugs, sexual addictions, and demonic control. Being Under Satan’s Yoke What is satan’s plan?

  10. Does satan have power? • If you are a sinner, satan has power over you until you surrender your life to Christ. • If you are a Christian, satan has no power (authority) to harm you. He gets his power when you surrender it to him!

  11. Who is more powerful satan or God? • Satan was created– God always was. (Ezekiel 28:15). • Satan has power to steal, kill, and destroy. (John 10:10). • God is all-powerful. He gives us the power to defeat satan when we use the Name of Jesus and the God’s Word (Bible).

  12. God wants our time, money and talents. Satan wants to steal our time, money and talents - without us realizing he has us under his control.

  13. Most of the world today does not know their father is satan (John 8:44) “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire….”

  14. What is spiritual warfare? • Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is notagainst flesh and blood (other people), but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” • It is war in the spirit world – a world you can not see with your eyes, but is clearly real.

  15. (Joshua 23:6-13) God told the Israelites to drive out the tribes (enemy), and He promised to help them win their battles as long as they obeyed Him. They disobeyed God and this caused them trouble for many generations.

  16. Israel had to fight enemy tribes to possess the land. Christians today must fight the spiritual enemy. • The difference is that Israel fought against human enemies, and we struggle against “principalities and powers of the air” (satan and his demons). (spiritual enemies) (Ephesians 6:12).

  17. THOUGHT QUESTIONS • Who is my enemy? Where is he now? • What does he want? Why? • What is Satan’s plan? Does he have power in my life? • Who is more powerful satan or God? How do I know? • What is spiritual warfare?
