  2. Similes • - a figure of speech which involves a direct comparison between two unlike things, usually with the words like or as. • Example: The muscles on his brawny arms are strong as iron bands. • Complete the Simile portion of worksheet as • directed!

  3. Simile Take a Simile vacation! Plan a vacation using similes Talk about what to pack, where to go, what to do, where to eat, etc.

  4. Metaphor • a figure of speech which involves an implied comparison between two relatively unlike things using a form of be. The comparison is not announced by like or as. • Example: The road was a ribbon of moonlight • Complete the Metaphor portion of handout

  5. Metaphor Create a metaphor for the following words: Happiness______________________ Choice _________________________ Patience ________________________ Relief __________________________ Hope___________________________

  6. Alliteration Alliteration is the repetition of consonants within words in close proximity. Alliteration generally refers to sounds at the start of a word. Example: Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers! Complete the Alliteration portion of the handout!

  7. Alliteration Directions: Create a menu whose items include disgusting descriptions of food completely utilizing alliteration Example: Slithering Slimy Snake Soup ~Savor the slithering slimy snakes as the slime slips down your throat of this seasonal spicy soup.
