  3. Prescriptive advising • Purpose of advisor is to provide accurate information in an efficient manner. • Focus only on retention (what courses to take and in what order). • View courses to be passed and gotten out of the way.

  4. Developmental advising Views the student as a person who can use help with problem-solving and decision-making skills. Challenge students to develop higher-order thought processes. Help the student to gain clear insight into their own goals.

  5. ADVISING: REALITY Realistically in our setting we will use both developmental and prescriptive advising.
