Focus on Responsibility The 8th grade teachers, work to… • prepare students for high school. • prepare students to self advocate. • develop growth and accountability in content areas • help promote appropriate social skills. • promote responsibility: using agenda and checking team website, regularly checking grades, completing quality assignments, and earning good grades!

  5. Homework • Homework is meaningful. • Eighth grade quality work is expected for all assigned work. • Excused students are responsible for collecting, completing, and turning in assigned work due to absences.

  6. Homework RequestsNEW PROCEDURE • If a student is absent and homework is requested, homework may be picked up after 3 P.M. However… • Parents will be responsible for organizing and pulling materials from lockers. Parents will need: • student locker number • combination

  8. Skyward • Teachers may send messages or emails to parents and guardians. • Various information can be located on Skyward. Information includes: daily announcements, lunch menu, reminders, grades, upcoming events, etc. • Students are responsible for monitoring grades on Skyward.

  9. Google Docs will allow students to create different kinds of online documents, work on them in real time with other people, and store your documents and your other files -- all online, and all for free. With an Internet connection, a student can access documents and files from any computer, anywhere in the world. Edmodo is a tool that allows teachers to safely share ideas, files, assignments, videos, projects, etc. with students and other teachers in real time. Is a safe and secure social learning site for classrooms.  Technology

  10. Technology (continued) • Chromebooks • iPads in the classroom • Flipped Classrooms • allow students to access the explicit instruction outside of the classroom and allow for questioning, practice, and problem solving within the classroom.

  11. Open House • Open House is a time for general questions and wonderings! If you would like to talk about your student’s progress on an individual basis, we can set up a time for you! • You are welcome to visit classrooms! • Parent Teacher Conferences are November 7th and 8th.
