  2. Economy continued • Strong in technology, science, medicine, and education • Northeast- mfg area- “Industrial Revolution”- inventions • Coal mining- PA and West Virginia • Trade- large cities and waterways • Service industries- businesses that provide services to people • Fishing and farming

Economy continued • South- industry- main source of income- factories and refineries • Tourism- Sea World, Walt Disney World- Orlando, Florida • Agriculture- Texas- more farms than any other state- “Longhorns”, “Aggies” • Rice and sugarcane- Louisiana and Arkansas • Citrus fruits, pecans, and peanuts
