  1. Fortune, good night. Smile once more, turn thy wheel.

  2. Stuck on plot? 1-44: Kent and Oswald arrive outside the castle, both barring letters- from Lear and Goneril respectively- and they argue. Kent beats Oswald before the two are parted. 45- 133: Cornwall, Regan, Gloucester, and Edmund demand to know what’s happened and Oswald explains that the “ancient ruffian” started the fight. Kent continues insulting Oswald claiming that Oswald is essentially a “tailor made man” and that he seems to be surrounded by “smiling rogues” which essentially insults Cornwall and Regan too.

  3. Stuck on plot? 134-165: Cornwall decides to place Kent in the stocks to teach him better manners, but Regan doubles the punishment by keeping him contained “all night.” Kent is shocked and reminds her that he is Lear’s servant and that she would treat a dog better than that. She is unfazed. 166-end: Gloucester is also surprised by the punishment Cornwall and Regan give out. He attempts to comfort Kent and the scene ends with Kent hopeful about a letter he received from Cordelia informing him that she is aware of Kent’s help/disguise and that she will try to return and help.
