  1. Success Ciarra Cherry Tessa Moore Lauren Orr Laziness and fear of change play huge roles in the blocking of success. Both of these could cause some people to lack the motivation needed to work for success.

  2. Laziness • Some people do not have the motivation to do the work or make the right choices for their success. According to Ivan Misner, the founder and chairman of Business Networking, “working hard is only part of success. Making good choices is the second part. It truly takes both to achieve success at whatever you do.”(Success Isn’t an Entitlement—It’s Earned)

  3. Being unmotivated to become successful in something is a sure way to be unsuccessful in everything. However some MAY have the motivation to change something but it is fear not laziness that blocks the path that will lead them to their goals.

  4. People fear what the consequences of their actions will or won’t be if they attempt to change the things they oppose. • “When I converse with the freest of my neighbors, I perceive that, whatever they may sat about the magnitude and seriousness of the question, and their regard for the public tranquility, the long and the short of the matter is, that they cannot spare the protection of the existing government, and they dread the consequences to their property and families of disobedience to it.” (Civil Disobedience 7)

  5. What it means to be successful!? • Because we live in a society where work and effort are not required, we tend to show and teach young children that it’s ok to think as if you can grow up thinking everything is given to you, instead of earned. As we look at TV we see so many people having the things that most of us only dream about.

  6. “Let him who has work to do recollect that the object of clothing is, first, to retain the vital heat, and secondly, in this state of society, to cover nakedness, and he may judge how much of any necessary or important work may be accomplished without adding to his wardrobe.” • As Thoreau talks about this he shows how we as humans should work for the things we have, so that later down the line we’re able to appreciate them at there total value.

  7. The First Step to Real Success • “The definition to success is vague.” Everybody has their own idea and definition of what success is. When you don’t work for success it doesn’t really mean as much to you like it would if you actually worked for it. “Success is held up as something to aim for.”(The First Step to Real Success) Some people feel they will never succeed and that they will always be working toward it.

  8. Conclusion • Success is a powerful thing and everyone wants it. The problem is obtaining success. The answer is that one must be willing to work hard, courageous, and smart for it and to not be afraid of failure. “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” ~ Confucius
