  3. London hasfiveinternationalairports: Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton Stansted, City. The mostimportantairportis Heathrow.

  4. The HousesofParliament The HousesofParliamentiswhere the twoHousesof the Parliament (HousesofCommons and Lords) meetforpoliticalpurposes

  5. Big Ben Nextto the HousesofParliament and the River Thames, thereis Big Ben. Butremember: Big Ben isn’t the clock on the tower, but just the bell inside it.

  6. Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace is the official home of the BritishMonarch in London. Itisalso a famoustouristattractionbecauseof the Queen’s Royalguards. Everymorning at halfpasteleven people allover the world come tosee the changingof the guards. The guardsprotect the Queen day and night. They wear reduniforms and blackbearskins.

  7. The parksof London London is a green city withlotsofparks. The mostfamousparks are Hyde Park (where people love swimming, fishing and going out in boats on the Serpentine, the river in Hyde Park), St. James’s Park (withbirds and squirrels, greatforpicnics) and Greenwichpark. People oftenhave lunch in the parks, spendtheir free timechildren can enjoythemselves in manypools and littlelakes.

  8. The London Eye The London Eye, alsoknownas the Millennium Wheel, wasbuilt in 1999 and is a giantwheel (the biggestobservationwheel in the world). Itis 170 m high and you can see the beautiful London skyline from the top.

  10. The Towerof London The Towerof London is a historictower in the centreof London. William the Conquerorbuilt the White Tower in 1067 by the River Thames. Itwas a fortress, a royalpalace and a prison. Manyprisonerswereexecuted in the tower. Nowyou can see the crown jewels in the Towerof London.

  11. Museums The BritishMuseumcontainsEgyptiancollectionsofmummifiedskeletons, found in the pyramids. There are Greeksculpturesfrom the Parthenon in Athens.

  12. The National Gallery The National Galleryisoneof the mostimportant art galleries in the world.
