  3. LA MEJOR OBRA LITERARIA DE LA HISTORIA En 2002 el Club del Libro de Noruega y la Fundación Nobel, organizaron la selección del mejor libro de ficción de la Historia... Un grupo de cien escritores de 54 países eligieron a Don Quijote de La Mancha, que superó a Madame Bovary, del francés GustaveFlaubert (en segundo lugar). Cada uno de los cien escritores encuestados, entre ellos varios premios Nobel, debía mencionar diez títulos para contribuir a la creación de una Biblioteca de la Literatura Universal. Cervantes ganó a Flaubert por un cincuenta por ciento de votos más. PICASSO: EL QUIJOTE

  4. DÍA MUNDIAL DE LIBRO Miguel de Cervantes, autor deEl Quijote, murió el 23 de abril de 1616. En ese día del mismo año también murió William Shakespeare. La UNESCO declaró el 23 de abril como el DÍA MUNDIAL DEL LIBRO, a petición del gobierno de España, donde se celebraba desde hacía muchos años. En ese día casi todos los españoles y españolas regalan un libro a sus seres queridos. En algunas zonas de España, como en Cataluña, el libro se suele acompañar de una rosa. LA PRIMERA TRADUCCIÓN FUE AL INGLÉS En 1612, cuatro años antes de la muerte de Cervantes y siete después de la edición original (1605) aparece la primera traducción de El Quijote a una lengua extranjera.
