  1. Sea turtles!!(Loggerhead)  This Powerpoint is for MrsChristoff. Wild Encounters. 

  2. Loggerhead Sea Turtles are very unique Turtles. They live in salt water. They got Name by the way their head looks. Its Sorta in a log shape.. So that’s how it got Its name Loggerhead.  As you see in The picture below.

  3. Loggerhead sea turtles live in many oceans around the world.  Loggerhead Sea turtles don’t live in cold water. Most of them live in The United States. 

  4. The Loggerhead you see here is a female.  A female Loggerhead may travel many miles to return to the beach where she layed her eggs. A female Turtle may nest for two to three years. After mating she heads to shore to lay her eggs. 

  5. Loggerhead turtles!      This baby turtle is crawling back to the beach  When Loggerheads nest they may feel threatned or scared of the predators near.

  6. Loggerheads are beautiful!    Laws prohibit people from harming these creatures. These turtles live in the water, but come up to the surface every once in awhile to breathe. 

  7. These turtles are happy to live just like we are..SO LET THEM LIVE!  Ok I want you to focus on the picture on the right >>>>>>> Ok you see how its crawling towards the water? Some of the other turtles don’t make it to the beach like this one. Heres why. They also get distracted by lights in the distance when they are supposed to look at the moon and it will lead the babies to the water.  These turtles get caught in nets quite a lot. Its very sad. The poulation is going down FAST.

  8. FAST FACTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fast Facts: Sea turtles (Loggerheads) Can live up to 50 years! That’s a lot of years for a Sea Turtle! The scientific name for them is carettacaretta. These turtles are likely to become endangered sadly…An adult Loggerhead is about 36 inches and it weighs about 250 pounds. These turtles face lots of dangers. Like trash on the beach. They eat it! And pretty soon after that they get sick and die. That’s why they are becoming endangered.  They also get distracted by other lights..Like lighthouse and they go towards that and never get to the water. So help keep the turtles alive . 
