  2. More than 3 million slaves were shipped from Angola, once called Portuguese South Africa, to Brazil, Portugal’s South American colony during the days of slave trading. Nearly half of Swaziland’s territory is owned by non-resident Europeans. Botswana is now the leading producer of quality diamonds. It has set apart 20% of its land for national parks or game reserves.

  3. Most of Lesotho is mountainous. It’s lowest elevation is only slightly lower than 1 mile high. Malawi established the first freshwater national park in an effort to protect cichlids (a tropical fish). Mozambique is one of the world’s leading producers of cashews. Namibia's constitution was written under the supervision of United Nations Monitors. Namibians consider it their most precious possession.

  4. South Africa is the only African country with coastlines on two oceans. While South Africa possesses an abundance of most vital minerals, it does not have any oil. Zambia is the leading producer of copper, but it’s reserves are being depleted at an alarming rate.
