Overview • These training materials are based on the Spring 2012 End-of-Course Test Administration Manual. • Test administration manuals will be delivered to schools, via Falcon Shipping Inc., the week April 2, 2012. • Training materials are available in PearsonAccess under the Support tab. • Retain the Spring 2012 End-of-Course Test Administration Manual for the Summer administration as no additional copies will be provided.

  3. Manual • One manual (Spring EOC Manual) is provided for this administration. • Instructions for computer-based (CBT), paper-based (PBT), and TestHear accommodated form administrations are included in this manual. Important Note: This test administration manual will also be used for the Summer 2012 Algebra 1 EOC administration.

Glossary of Terms PearsonAccess– www.pearsonaccess.com/fl • A website used for almost all test preparation (e.g., PreID), setup, administration, and reporting tasks. • Correct test administration must be selected each time you log in. • Requires a username and password. • Link to support materials: www.FLAssessments.com/SpringEOC • PearsonAccess will timeout after 14 minutes of inactivity.

  5. Glossary of Terms PearsonAccess Training Center • Accessed from the Training Center tab on PearsonAccess home page. • Provides an opportunity to • Practice PearsonAccess tasks • Manage the Infrastructure Trial in preparation for testing • Requires a username and password.

  6. Glossary of Terms Proctor Caching • A process of locally loading or “caching” test content on a computer at the school level. • Does not require a separate caching server and can run on any workstation on the network that meets minimum requirements. • Software is provided by Pearson. • Reduces test delays due to network congestion. • Provides students with a more seamless testing experience. • Requiredfor all FCAT/FCAT 2.0/EOC computer-based testing in Florida.

  7. Glossary of Terms Note: This is the TestNav address used for testing this spring; it is different from the address used for the Infrastructure Trial. TestNav 6.9 (TestNav) • Platform for Florida’s high-stakes computer-based statewide assessments. • Software application installed either on a file server or on each computer that will be used for testing.

Glossary of Terms TestHear • Platform used to deliver accommodated forms (e.g., large print, zoom, color contrast, screen reader, assistive devices) for Florida’s high-stakes computer-based statewide assessments. • Software application installed on each computer that will be used to test students who require computer-based accommodations. • TestHear will operate on Windows PC workstations and on Macintosh workstations that have Mac OS 10.5 or later installed and are running Windows (e.g., via Boot Camp).

Glossary of Terms ePAT • Electronic Practice Assessment Tool • Provides students an opportunity to practice using the computer-based platform prior to testing. • Available for download at www.FLAssessments.com/ePATs. • Download ePAT launcher separately from practice test content. • Accommodated ePATs are also available. Launcher is bundled with the practice test content for accommodated forms. • Scripts and instructions for downloading ePATs are under the Resources tab.

M-DCPS Spring EOC Test Administration Schedules • * Testing should begin on Day 1 and be completed in as few days as possible. • **Any student not finished by the end of the allotted time may continue working; however, testing must be completed within the same school day. • Note: There should be no deviation from the established M-DCPS Spring EOC test administration schedules. • Paper-based accommodations must be completed by the third day of each testing window.

Algebra 1:Students to be Tested Algebra 1 The following students must participate in the Algebra 1 EOC Assessment administration: • All students who are enrolled in the following courses in 2011-12: • Algebra 1 – 1200310 • Algebra 1 Honors – 1200320 • Algebra 1-B – 1200380 • Pre-AICE Mathematics 1 – 1209810 • IB Middle Years Program/Algebra 1 Honors – 1200390 • Any student who completed one of the above courses through virtual coursework or adult education must take the Algebra 1 EOC Assessment.

  14. Students to be Tested Algebra 1 (cont.) The following students are eligible to participate in the Algebra 1 EOC Assessment administration: • Students who need to retake the assessment to earn a passing score for course credit • Students in a credit acceleration program (CAP) who wish to take the assessment to earn course credit • Please Note: Students who entered 9th grade in the 2010–11 school year are not subject to the “passing” Algebra 1 EOC. • Their scores are averaged as 30% of their course grade • They must take the assessment if they take the Algebra 1 course and never taken the EOC • They may take the assessment if they are in grade forgiveness programs and wish to retake the assessment to improve their course grade

Biology 1:Students to be Tested Biology 1 The following students must participate in the Spring 2012 Biology 1 EOC Assessment administration: • All students who are enrolled in the following courses in 2011-12: • Any student who completed one of the above courses through virtual coursework or adult education must take the Biology 1 EOC Assessment. • Students who entered grade 9 in the 2011–12 school year who are taking AP Biology 1 to meet the Biology 1 credit requirement for high school graduation must take the Biology 1 EOC Assessment.

Geometry:Students to be Tested Geometry The following students must participate in the Spring 2012 Geometry EOC Assessment administration: • All students who are enrolled in the following courses in 2011-12: • Geometry – 1206310 • Geometry Honors – 1206320 • IB Middle Years Program Geometry Honors – 1206810 • Pre-AICE Mathematics 2 – 1209820 • Any student who completed one of the above courses through virtual coursework or adult education must take the Geometry EOC Assessment.

Geometry:Students to be Tested Biology 1 and Geometry • Students who entered Grade 9 in the 2011-12 school year will have the Biology 1 and Geometry EOC score averaged as 30% of their final course grade. • This cohort retains this requirement until they take the Biology 1 and Geometry EOC in high school.

  18. US History Field Test:Students to be Tested U.S. History Field Test • Grades 9–12 students enrolled in the following courses at schools selected in the field test sample will be tested. • 2100310 – United States History • 2100320 – United States History Honors • Students who completed one of the above courses at the end of semester one should not participate in this field test administration. • Students with disabilities who are able to access computer-based assessments should participate in this field test administration. • Any students who require paper-based accommodations, accommodated CBT forms, or assistive devices will NOT participate. • ELL students should participate in this field test administration.

  19. Students to be Tested: Special Programs* *The District will manage special program students in PearsonAccess for CBT administrations. If you have any questions, please contact Joan Cortez at 305-995-3660. **District program not in the Test Administration Manual.

Students to be Tested:SWD Students Students With Disabilities • All students with disabilities participate in the statewide assessment program by taking one of the following: • EOC Assessment without accommodations, • EOC Assessment with accommodations, or • Florida Alternate Assessment. • All determinations regarding participation in the statewide assessment program must be documented in the student’s IEP or Section 504 plan. • See Appendix A of the manual for information regarding accommodations.

  21. Students to be Tested:ELL Students English Language Learners (ELLs) • All eligible ELL students are expected to participate in the EOC Assessments no matter how long these students have been receiving services. • See Appendix A of the manual for information regarding accommodations.

Computer-Based Accommodations for SWD • Large Print • 18 font • Color Contrast • Three color combinations are offered • Zoom • 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x,1.75x, 2x, 2.25x, 2.5x, 2.75x, 3x, 3.5x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 10x • Screen Reader (only available for Mathematics and Science assessments) • Assistive Devices Note: Accommodated forms may be combined as noted on page 204 of the manual.

Prohibited Activities: Florida Statute and State Board Education Rule • Reading the passages, test items, or performance tasks. • Revealing the passages, test items, or performance tasks. • Copying the passages, test items, or performance tasks. • Explaining or reading test items or passages for students. • Changing or otherwise interfering with student responses to test items. • Causing achievement of schools to be inaccurately measured or reported. • Copying or reading student responses.

  28. Test Security Policies:Electronic Devices • Possession of any electronic device that reproduces, transmits, calculates, or recordsIScause for invalidation. • “Possession” is defined as “within arm’s reach,” even if the electronic device is not visible. • Students should not have cell phones in their pockets, clipped to their belts, at their desks, or anywhere they can be easily accessed during testing. • Test administrators and proctors should also turn-off their electronic devices during testing.

  29. Test Security Policies:Student Pledge Prior to testing, students are required to read and agree to a student pledge. Students taking a computer-based test must read and check a box indicating that they agree to adhere to the pledge. Students who do not check the “I agree” box should still be allowed to test. Students taking a paper-based test sign beneath the pledge on page 2 of the test and answer book. If a student refuses to agree to the pledge, the test administrator should note this in the record of required administration information and check the box for the student (CBT only).

  30. Reporting Testing Irregularities • All school staff are professionally responsible for ensuring appropriate administration procedures and reporting any irregularities. • Specified in Standards, Guidelines, and Procedures for Test Administration and Test Security • School Assessment Coordinator/Principal • Student Assessment and Educational Testing • Region Center and/or appropriate District Administrative Office • Appropriate investigative unit, if applicable • Note: School personnel must be prepared to provide documentation and information in support of investigations of a testing irregularity.

  31. Caveon Forensic Analyses • The FLDOE has contracted with Caveon Test Security to provide its Caveon Data Forensics™ for all statewide assessments. • Caveon will analyze data to identify highly unusual test results for two primary groups: • Students with extremely similar test responses; and • Schools with improbable levels of similarity, gains and/or erasures. • Flagging only the most extreme results

  32. Test Administrator Before, During, and After Testing

  33. Test Administrators • ALL test administrators must be certified educators. • Test administrators are required to sign a Test Administrator Prohibited Activities Agreement in addition to a Security Agreement. Certification numbers must be recorded on this document. • The EOC Administration and Security Agreement has been revised to emphasize the importance of proper training and the possible consequences of test administration irregularities.

  34. Test AdministratorBefore Testing • Read the test administration manual. • Read the Test Administration Policies and Procedures and sign the Florida EOC Test Administration and Security Agreement. • Read and sign the Test Administrator Prohibited Activities Agreement. • Establish an appropriate setting for test administration and remove or cover any unauthorized aids in the testing room. • Assemble and prepare all materials needed for test administration. • Ensure that your students and parents understand the testing policies prior to the first day of testing. • If you are administering tests to students who require accommodations, become familiar with the accommodations and discuss with your school assessment coordinator how accommodations will be provided. • Ensure that you are familiar with how to open TestNav or TestHear to the login screen for each student computer prior to testing.

  35. Establish an Appropriate Setting • Tests should be administered in a room that has comfortable seating, good lighting, adequate ventilation, and sufficient workspace. • Check the configuration of your testing room to make sure you will be able to provide a secure environment during testing. • Install visual barriers to ensure students are not able to easily view other students’ computer screens. • Post the sign that reads TESTING—Please Do Not Disturb and display starting and stopping times as soon as testing begins. • Remove or cover all visual aids in the room.

  36. Establish an Appropriate Setting When you arrive on the day of testing, open each student workstation in the testing room to the student login screen as indicated in the script, but do not log in for students. Display the student comment form URL, or create shortcuts on student workstations to ensure each student is able to complete a form after testing. Ensure that you have a way to contact the technology coordinator or the school assessment coordinator without leaving the room unattended.

  37. Materials Needed for Testing Test Administration Manual • You will need the Spring 2012 End-of-Course Test Administration Manual to read the test administration scripts to students. • When testing students who are allowed certain accommodations, you may need to modify the scripts. It is especially important that you review the scripts BEFORE testing begins to determine the necessary modifications. Do not interpret this as permission to paraphrase test items. • Scripts and instructions for the administration of paper-based forms are provided in Appendix A. • **Updated scripts for the administration of accommodated computer-based test forms (large print, color contrast, zoom, screen reader, assistive devices) are available at www.FLAssessments.com/SpringEOC.

  38. Materials Needed for Testing Test Administration Manual (cont.) • Appendix D on page 333 is the CBT Test Administrator Quick Reference Guide. • This guide lists possible error messages students may encounter, explanations for each message, and possible solutions. • This guide is a helpful resource for test administrators during testing. 38

Updated TestHear Scripts • The Spring 2012 EOC Manual was printed prior to this functionality change; therefore the scripts in the manual should be replaced with the updated scripts distributed by FDOE and available at www.FLAssessments.com/SpringEOC. • To administer the accommodated EOC ePATs: In place of pages 220-249 in the Spring 2012 EOC Manual, use the revised Script for Administering the Accommodated Practice Test (TestHear ePAT) for Algebra 1 EOC, the Script for Administering the Accommodated Practice Test (TestHear ePAT) for Biology 1 EOC , and the Script for Administering the Accommodated Practice Test (TestHear ePAT) for Geometry. • To administer the accommodated computer-based EOC Assessments: In place of pages 250-287 in the Spring 2012 EOC Manual, use the revised Script for Administering Accommodated Computer-Based Algebra 1 EOC Assessment, the Script for Administering Accommodated Computer-Based Biology 1 EOC Assessment, and the Script for Administering Accommodated Computer-Based Geometry EOC Assessment. • Please pay special attention to updated instructions regarding hand-held calculators and scripts for TestHear forms (denoted by **).

  40. Materials Needed for Testing Student Authorization Tickets • The School Assessment Coordinator sections of the manual provide instructions for scheduling students into testsessions and printing Student Authorization Tickets. • Please Note: Specific instructions for printing tickets for students enrolled in remedial coursework during the summer session will be provided through adult education. • For each test session, each student needs a Login ID and a test code (password), which are printed on the Student Authorization Tickets. • Students will need a pen or pencil during testing to sign their tickets. • The test administrator will give each student a ticket only AFTER all students have entered the testing room, as instructed in the script, and all tickets must be collected BEFORE students leave the testing room.

  41. Materials Needed for Testing Student Authorization Tickets (cont.) Student Authorization Tickets must be handled in a secure manner and returned to the school assessment coordinator immediately after each day of testing is completed.

  42. Materials Needed for Testing Session Roster • A Session Roster is a list of all students scheduled in a test session that displays important information including: • Test Administration • Session Name • Test to be Administered • Test Code (password) • Student Name • Florida ID Number • Student Date of Birth • Class Information • Login ID • Blank space to record attendance information and accommodations used • The Session Roster may be used to record required administration information.

  43. Materials Needed for Testing Session Roster (cont.) Session Rosters must be handled in a secure manner and returned to the school assessment coordinator immediately after each test session is completed.

  44. Materials Needed for Testing Test Group Code • A test group code is a unique four-digit number used to identify a group of students testing together. • School assessment coordinators will generate a unique four-digit code for each test session. • Each group of tested students, initial or make-up, in a testing room should receive a unique test group code. • Students will enter the test group code before beginning the test, as indicated in the scripts.

Materials Needed for Testing Reference Sheets and Periodic Tables • Paper reference sheets are provided to all students taking the Algebra 1 and Geometry EOC Assessments. • If your school will provide paper copies of periodic tables to students taking the Biology 1 EOC Assessment, make sure a sufficient number of copies is available. • Reference sheets and periodic tables are also available in the TestNav and TestHear software. www.FLAssessments.com/SpringEOC

Materials Needed for Testing Reference Sheets and Periodic Tables (cont.) • Once students complete the test, the test administrator should collect all reference sheets and periodic tables. • School assessment coordinators should return them in the District Assessment Coordinator Only box. • Used reference sheets and periodic tables are secure materials.

  48. Materials Needed for Testing Four-Function Calculators • The computer-based TestNav Algebra 1 and Biology 1 EOC Assessments have a built-in four-function calculator. • Test administrators should have a supply of approved calculators for these students; if requested. No other calculators may be used. • **TestHear forms of the Algebra 1 and Biology 1 EOC Assessments do not include an online calculator. Hand-held calculators must be provided for students using TestHear accommodated forms. • Students with visual impairments may use the approved large key/large display calculators or approved talking calculators supplied by the FDOE.

  49. Materials Needed for Testing Scientific Calculators • The computer-based TestNav Geometry EOC Assessment has a built-in scientific calculator. • Once a student has participated in a practice test, he or she may request to use an approved scientific calculator, if one is available. (See page 20 in the Spring 2012 EOC Manual for a list of approved scientific calculators.) • Students who will test using TestHear accommodated forms of the Geometry EOC Assessment will be provided with handheld scientific calculators by FDOE.

  50. Materials Needed for Testing Computer-Based Testing Work Folders • The Florida Computer-Based Testing Work Folder is a blank piece of yellow 11x17 paper folded in half with grid paper on the back cover. Work folders arrived in your shipment of test administration manuals. • For the CBT Algebra 1, Biology 1, and Geometry EOC Assessments, students are provided with work folders to work the problems. One work folder should be sufficient for each student; however, students may request additional folders. • Work folders are to be distributed to students at the beginning of each test session. • School assessment coordinators and test administrators must ensure that students have enough desk space to use their folders.
