Cascade 2012 Product Roadmap Presented by Kat Liendgens, Hannon Hill Chief Operating Officer and Bradley Wagner, Hannon Hill Vice President of Engineering • Explore trends in web content management in 2011 and what we expect in 2012 • Learn about new functionality in the product this year, including publishing improvements, mobile, HTML5, social and analytics • What’s next for Cascade Server, including modules, tighter integration with the published web server, and rich UI improvements to make Cascade look and feel more like a desktop application

Cascade server for newbies Breakout sessions led by Rahul Bhagnari, Hannon Hill Project Analyst • Rahul will go through the basics of Cascade Server for new clients or anyone new to using Cascade Server within their organization • There will be two of these sessions to allow for small groups and ample Q&A time

Creating a new website on a Tight budget Presented by Client Speaker Karen Horsfall of UT Arlington Library • Karen will explain how the UTA Library created its new website utilizing the staff and the talents they have in-house • She will provide the audience with takeaways and best practices from her experience

Creating an online event calendar Presented by Client Speaker Jon Whitener of University of Detroit Mercy • Jon will present several reasons he has found for using Cascade Server as an integral part of a dynamic calendar system • He will also show how Cascade Server is used in an online event calendar system for University of Detroit Mercy

Benefits of having an internet Site and an intranet site for different audiences Presented by Client Speaker Linda Watson of Rollins College • Rollins College uses an internet site for marketing the college to prospective students, donors, alumni and friends and an intranet site to provide useful information, news and key links to faculty, staff and current student • Linda will explain the benefits she has found of using this strategy and her tips for executing it at your organization

The perfect marriage:Cascade XML + Cascade preview+open Source XML Database Presented by Client Speaker Eric Palmer of the University of Richmond • Eric will explore how the University of Richmond has maximized the value of Cascade Server’s data definitions, XSLT processing and the Cascade Server preview function by extending the web infrastructure with eXist-db, an open source XML database • He will explain the benefits of this approach and provide enough code examples to help others get started if they are interested in setting up the same type of ecosystem

Blogging and photo galleries Presented by Client Speaker Matt Carter of the University of New Mexico • Matt will explain how the University of New Mexico has been using XSLT with the Flickr API to make a photo gallery page and using a set of XSLT scripts that leverages the Flickr API to query and pull content from Flickr groups and photo sets to display them on their website • He will also demonstrate how they are leveraging Cascade Server to provide departments with news and blog systems for their sites by utilizing a set of shared XSLT formats, predefined asset factory configurations and site-specific indexes

Building basic structured data forms /Using xslt Presented by Client Speaker Christie Allen of UT Arlington • Christie will provide an overview of structured data forms, how to understand XSLT, and recommended best practices for creating and editing structured data forms • Handouts will include plug-and-play XSLT code snippets and cheat sheets for decoding and deconstructing XSLT • This presentation will best serve users with little to no knowledge of XML/XSLT

  25. 13 ways of looking at your audience Presented by Client Speaker Alex Shapiro of UC Hastings College of Law • Alex will provide new ways of thinking about your audience when creating content for your site • His tips will draw on his many years of experience in communications and online marketing

Web services to integrate dynamic content Presented by Client Speaker Nathan Tanner of the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics • Nathan will discuss using web services, PHP and data definitions to integrate dynamic content within sites • He will share a case study of how they have integrated physician and faculty search, health content, new video and other related content all within Cascade Server

IU Site Builder: Cascade server for non-technical managers Presented by Client Speaker Erick Carballo of Indiana University • Erick will show the audience how IU has created a custom collection of assets and tools to empower non-technical users to create and maintain their own official IU websites • He will share what they have learned from this experience and how this concept can be applied at other universities as well as the benefits of this strategy for user across the spectrum of technical ability from beginner to expert

Wall-Mounted display Presented by Client Speaker Jason Aller of the University of California Davis School of Law • Jason will discuss how to use Cascade Server to put your content on the wall • He will show what his team has done to publish from Cascade Server to kiosks and wall-mounted displays and share his best practices with the audience

Showing information in difference ways based on importance Presented by Partner Speaker Kevin Zink of mStoner • Kevin will present on how to show information in different ways based on importance • He will show how they set up specialty tagging for one of their clients to allow for notifications and alerts to be posted on the home page as well as the ability to display a minified version of the homepage in emergency situations
