  1. How to Target Your Campaign

  2. Why Use the Category Targeting Feature? • Use category and demographic targeting to get onto the sources that are best suited for your campaign • It is in your best interest to target as many categories as you see fit for your campaign • By category targeting, you will be automatically added to our newest, hottest traffic sources as they are added to the CBCPC marketplace

  3. Getting to Category Targeting Selection • After successfully creating your campaign, you will have the opportunity to utilize our category/demographic targeting feature • At this time, you will be able to pick the categories that best fit your campaign. • If you have missed this portion after creating your campaign, you can still access it by clicking on your campaign and clicking the tab on the top left hand corner of your screen that says 'Categories' next to where it says 'Traffic Sources'

  4. Selecting Your Categories • Our categories are divided into sub-categories such as: demographics, verticals, content, and location for international sources • You can select as many of these categories as you see fit for your campaign • When you put a check next to a category that you have selected for your campaign to target, under the 'Max CPC' column, you will see a box where you can put a bid that you place every source within that category at. • For example, if you wanted to place your campaign in the 'Diet' category, it would look something like this: • If you have not previously used the category that you are targeting, its status will indicate 'Untested', if you have previously used this category but paused it, it will indicate 'Paused' and if you are currently using it, it will read as 'Active' • Once you set your bids, make sure you save your changes.

  5. Looking at the Sources You Are Targeted to • After you are finished selecting all of the categories at which you want your campaign targeted to, save your changes and click on 'Traffic Sources' on the top left corner. • You will be re-directed to a page that lists multiple sources. They will all be set at the same bid that you set the category at.

  6. Managing Your Sources • You can change the bids on the sources that you have performed well on, or that you think you would perform well on and want to test. • To do this, change the bid under 'Max CPC' • You can see what you need to set your bid at in order to show on that specific source by clicking on the numbered panel icon next to 'Max CPC' • You can adjust accordingly so that your ad will show on the panel on that source • Changes may take 10-20 minutes to process. Once your campaign is showing, a badge will show on your ad on the preview panel labeled 'Your Campaign'

  7. Tips to Get the Most Out of Category/Demographic Targeting • To ensure you get the best traffic that will convert the most successfully for your campaign, we suggest targeting categories at a low, RON bid, and specifically targeting the sources you like within each category at higher bids. • Keep in mind that when you adjust a bid on a source within a category, it separates that source from category targeting. You can continue to adjust this source as you see fit for your campaign.
