Introduction • Need to collect data about people in general and patients in specific • Physical • Physiological • psychological • Cognitive • Behavioral • Etc. • With recent availability of the technologies that enable this data collection • Comes the role of sensor networks http://www.ict-jewel.eu

Goal • A mobile e-health information system for continuous and remote monitoring, diagnosis, and management of various types of physiological signals will be developed • The system comprises of a set of smart wireless sensors, mobile device, remote e-health server, and an intelligent software • The sensors should be • Reconfigurable • Has low-cost • Lightweight • Ultra low power consumption http://www.ict-jewel.eu

This system can be used for monitoring, diagnosis and management of different medical parameters such as (but not limited to): • Biopotentials(Electrocardiogram (ECG) • Electroencephalogram (EEG) • Electromyogram (EMG) • Electro-oculogram(EOG) • Electroretinogram(ERG) • Blood pressure • Blood glucose concentration • Oxygen saturation • Blood gases and electrolytes http://www.ict-jewel.eu

Problem • Application specific sensors fabrication • Design and build special purpose sensors that fit our system • Design and build algorithms for • How and where to distribute sensors for better outcomes • Number of sensors • This means: • We need to design sensors that support body structure, low power sensors, collected data type (i.e. what data exactly I need to collect without any noise data, such as O2 % for firefighters) http://www.ict-jewel.eu
